Ferrari unveils a new special «Masonico» color on a 12Cilindri Tailor Made

Even for a brand that already offers nearly 400 different shades, there is still room for innovation. Ferrari has just added a new color to its impressive palette through its Tailor Made customization program. Called Masonico, this brand-new shade was spotted by the famous car spotter Varryx, who shared several images on social media of a spectacular Ferrari 12Cilindri featuring this very distinctive finish.

A painting that changes depending on the light

At first glance, the Ferrari 12Cilindri appears to be painted in a classic gold color. But as the light changes, the magic happens. The “Masonico” color then reveals shades of yellow, orange, copper, and even brown, depending on the viewing angle and the intensity of the sunlight.

Varryx immediately compares this design to Lamborghini’s iconic Oro Alba, one of the most famous special-effect paint finishes from Sant’Agata Bolognese. In photos taken at a car show in Italy, the paint shifts from a luminous gold to a deep bronze, almost giving the impression that the car changes color as it moves. The effect is particularly spectacular on the taut lines of the 12Cilindri, whose contours perfectly highlight the variations in light.

A nod to a collector already known at Ferrari

The name “Masonico” was not chosen at random. According to Varryx, this new color was commissioned by the same owner who had previously introduced the famous “Verde Masoni” during the era of the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta.

Over the years, Verde Masoni has become one of the brand’s best-known special paint colors, regularly featured at Ferrari auctions and events. With Masonico, this collector seems once again to have left his mark on Maranello’s color history.

An ever-more-impressive Ferrari lineup

This new development also underscores the growing importance of Ferrari’s customization program. According to the most recent figures, the Italian brand now offers 395 official colors since its founding in 1947. While red remains inextricably linked to Ferrari in the collective imagination, the reality is quite different. The catalog now includes more than 100 shades of blue, 56 shades of green, 63 shades of red, as well as numerous gold, bronze, and brown finishes. Masonico could thus further enrich this already highly exclusive family of special-effect colors.

The choice of the Ferrari 12Cilindri to launch Masonico is no coincidence. Unveiled in 2024 as the successor to the 812 Superfast, it now represents the purest expression of Gran Turismo according to Ferrari. Under its long hood lies a naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine producing 830 ch and 678 Nm of torque, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds and reaching a top speed of 340 km/h.
