In an American garage, a 1968 Ferrari 330 had been waiting for years for someone to restore it to its former glory. Its metallic brown body was caked with grime, its interior was covered in dust, and some interior parts even had mold on them. Yet beneath this neglected exterior lay a true automotive treasure.

This Ferrari It belonged to Joe, a car enthusiast who has since passed away. His granddaughter, Liliana, decided to pay tribute to him by entrusting the prized Italian car to the experts at the YouTube channel WD Detailing, who had previously worked on another of her grandfather’s Ferraris.

A Ferrari V12 that could fetch a million dollars

This Ferrari 330 has plenty to offer collectors. Designed by Pininfarina, it is powered by the famous 4-liter Colombo V12 engine, producing approximately 300 chevaux. It’s an exceptional powertrain for a grand tourer from the late 1960s.

But it’s the car’s color that really catches the eye. Its body is painted in a rare metallic brown called Colorado Brown. According to the expert interviewed in the video, a comparable model in this color reportedly sold for over $800,000 in 2022. He estimates that this abandoned Ferrari could fetch close to $1 million at auction, even though no definitive appraisal has been conducted. Another interesting discovery: in the trunk, the team found the original tool kit and jack. The toolkit alone could be worth about $7,000!

Just a few days to undo years of neglect

To bring this Ferrari back to life, the teams at WD Detailing undertake an exceptionally thorough cleaning. The spoked wheels are disassembled and polished, the body is washed and then decontaminated, and the engine compartment is steam-cleaned to preserve the mechanical components.

Inside, the work is just as impressive. The seats have been removed, the carpets cleaned, and the mold eliminated. Surprise: beneath their sheepskin covers, the original black leather seats turn out to be in much better condition than expected. The paintwork also regains its depth after careful polishing. The team prefers to leave certain imperfections as they are rather than risk damaging this vintage bodywork. It is, therefore, more of a thorough beautification than a complete mechanical restoration.

A discovery that deeply affects his granddaughter

When Liliana finally discovers the Ferrari behind the garage door, she is immediately overcome with emotion. The young woman struggles to hold back her tears at the sight of the transformed car. To her, this Ferrari represents much more than a six- or seven-figure sum. Her grandfather had played a major role in raising her and her sister. Together, they attended car shows and shared a passion that shaped their childhood. Liliana even imagines Joe’s reaction to seeing his Ferrari restored to its former beauty. She thinks he would have simply said, «It’s wonderful.»

At the end of the video, she emphasizes how important it is to share your passion for cars with your loved ones and to create memories together. It’s a beautiful lesson that reminds us that, even when a Ferrari is potentially worth a million dollars, its true value can be sentimental and impossible to quantify.
