Just two days after revealing that he was who became the owner of a Ferrari F40 with an exceptional history, Lewis Hamilton has just made a particularly impressive debut. On September 3, the Ferrari driver arrived at Monza behind the wheel of his new F40. Then he got out and struck a pose next to her. An image that immediately brings to mind the one from his first day at Ferrari, in January 2025.
Lewis Hamilton arrives at Monza in his new F40
To get to Monza, Lewis Hamilton could have chosen one of the modern Ferraris made available to him. Instead, he opted to drive his red F40, under the watchful eyes of photographers and spectators gathered along the track.

And this F40 is no stranger. It’s the car that the seven-time world champion has just revealed as his own, with these few words: «My very own F40.» As a reminder, its story is quite incredible. Delivered new in Modena in 1991, it was reportedly put into storage just a few days later and remained unused for more than 30 years. When it was rediscovered, the Ferrari was covered in dust but still in a condition remarkably close to that in which it was delivered.

Lewis Hamilton finally acquired it in 2026 before handing it directly over to Ferrari. In Maranello, the mechanics undertook a major mechanical overhaul to get this F40 back on the road. A few days after sharing images of the work, here it is at Monza with Lewis Hamilton behind the wheel.
Iconic. ✨

A pose that inevitably brings to mind her first photo at Ferrari
But perhaps the most interesting moment came once the car had come to a stop. Hamilton, dressed in a dark suit, a tie, a long camel-colored coat, and sunglasses, struck a pose right in front of his F40. It’s hard not to see this as a nod to its first official photo in January 2025.

On his very first official day as a Ferrari driver, Lewis Hamilton posted a photo that went viral. He was pictured in front of the Casa Ferrari—Enzo Ferrari’s former home and office in Fiorano—dressed very elegantly, with a red Ferrari F40 at his side.

The photograph had gone viral around the world. And we now know that the choice of car was by no means a coincidence. Lewis Hamilton recently explained that the F40 had been his dream Ferrari since childhood and that he himself had requested that one be present for this first official photograph.
This time, the Ferrari F40 is truly his
A year and a half later: same driver, same carefully crafted look, same red Ferrari F40, and a pose that strongly resembles the one he chose to mark his arrival at Maranello. Lewis Hamilton did not specify whether he had intentionally sought to recreate that photograph, but the resemblance is hard to miss. In January 2025, Hamilton posed next to an F40 chosen to symbolize his Ferrari dream. In September 2026, he posed next to his own F40—the one he had just rescued after more than three decades of inactivity. The circle is almost complete.
