With the imminent start of the 11th season of the FIA World Championship for Formula E, Maserati MSG Racing is preparing to return stronger than ever. For this new season, the team welcomes two top talents: Stoffel Vandoorne, World Champion in season 8, and Jake Hughes, a promising British driver. This duo, combining experience and talent, has set itself an ambitious goal: to propel Maserati to new heights in the world of electric racing.
A duo of top-level pilots
Vandoorneone of Formula E's most accomplished competitors, joins Maserati MSG Racing after several seasons of victories and podiums. His experience with Mercedes-EQ and his world title in 2021/2022 make him a pillar of the championship, ready to give new impetus to Maserati. At his side, Jake Hughesformer McLaren driver and one of Formula E's best rookiesadds his drive and motivation to the team. Hughes already knows the team well, having been a reserve driver in season 7 (then Venturi Racing). Their first appearance as a duo is expected during pre-season testing at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia, Spain, prior to the official season opener in São Paulo on December 7, 2024.
A timidly evolving design
The car's design retains the style of season 10, with a new color scheme: an elegant "rose gold liquid metal" at the rear, an emblem of the Folgore range, and classic "Maserati blue" at the front.
For season 11, as for season 10, Maserati MSG Racing will be relying on the Gen3 Evo. With an acceleration capacity of 0 to 100 km/h in 1.86 seconds, the Gen3 Evo is even ahead of today's Formula 1 single-seaters.
Season objectives and gratitude to former drivers
Ranked 8th last season, Maserati MSG Racing hopes to move up the rankings this year with the addition of Vandoorne and Hughes. The team would like to express its gratitude to Maximilian Günther and Jehan Daruvala for their invaluable contributions over the past few seasons. Günther, in particular, left an indelible mark by giving Maserati its first Formula E victory, with memorable moments in Jakarta and Tokyo.
Maserati management's expectations
José M. Aznar, Team Principal of Maserati MSG Racing, is delighted with the arrival of this new pairing, which he considers to be one of the most competitive on the grid. He sees in Stoffel and Jake a synergy capable of taking the team to the top. Giovanni Tommaso Sgro, Director of Maserati Corse, shares this enthusiasm, saying that this new season marks a crucial step for Maserati in the world of electric car racing.
