Ferrari 308

The Ferrari 308 is one of the most important lines in Ferrari history. Produced between 1973 and 1985, it marked the lasting installation of the rear mid-mounted V8 in the range, and gave birth to the 328 and then the 348.
There are two distinct branches:
- 308 GT4 designed by Bertone (2+2)
- 308 GTB/GTS designed by Pininfarina (berlinetta and targa)
Over the years, the 308 evolved from fuel injection to 4-valve cylinder heads, improving reliability and performance. The very first Ferrari 308 GTBs produced between 1975 and 1977 feature a fiberglass body (Vetroresina) instead of the steel used later. Ferrari initially adopted this material to reduce weight and speed up production. The result was significant: the 308 Vetroresina weighed around 150 kg less than a steel 308 GTB. From 1977 onwards, Ferrari switched definitively to a steel body to simplify production and improve perceived quality. Between 700 and 800 308 GTB Vetroresina were produced.
