Automobili Amos Lancia Delta Safarista: 400 hp for this rally-ready restomod!

Italy is home to a veritable constellation of preparers: Ares, TotemMAT, Kimera, Officine Fioravanti and the list goes on. And Automobili Amos, founded by Eugenio Amos, is no exception. Their specialty? The Lancia Delta Integrale 16V, queen of Group A in the late 80s.

But be warned, the restomod is very special indeed, as it's a model called "Safarista", an extreme rally-inspired version, evoking off-roading and the mythical Safari Rally, perhaps the toughest, in its former very long format, on the WRC calendar. The Delta won three times in 1988 and 1989 (with Miki Biasion) and in 1991 with Juha Kankkunen.

Amos is very clear: the restomod is not intended to be a simple trophy to be displayed, but a real car designed to be driven and to live extraordinary experiences.

Safari transformation and big engine

To do this, you obviously need a donor car. The Lancia Delta Intégrale 16V chassis is heavily reworked and reinforced, with a raised ride height for off-roading, 3-door bodywork, carbon fiber, but also "safari" protection with mudguards and big Pirelli Scorpion off-road tires, just like on the 911 Dakar. It's very reminiscent of what Singer did with the 911 ACS Off-Road.

The Safarista takes its engine from Amos' other creation, the Delta Futurista. Lancia's original 2.0-liter engine has obviously been reworked, with an improved water/oil/air cooling system, optimized intake, Motec electronic management with several maps and an anti-lag system (management system that keeps the turbo "charged"). We're now talking 400 horsepower, all coupled to a 5-speed sequential gearbox. The suspension is adjustable, and the brakes are competition-grade.

No frills!

The interior is no exception to the rule, but assumes a purely sporting philosophy: it's minimalist, with carbon bucket seats, a roll bar, harnesses and a hydraulic handbrake. Adjustable Tilton pedals, removable steering wheel, button console, Motec dashboard and Lexan glass confirm that this Delta Safarista is a road-approved Group A. Those looking for digital swagger or hoping for leather and Alcantara trim will be disappointed! The interior is stripped down to the bare essentials, just like a real race car.

But this exceptional car comes with a hefty price tag! With production limited to 10 examples. The estimated price, excluding the donor car, is in the region of €570,000 ex VAT. Immersion in the Group A legend is only possible on this condition.
