You probably know theAlfa Romeo 164 Procar. This supercharged sedan, based on a tubular "silhouette" chassis and powered by a v10, had been developed to take part in the Procar championship, which Bernie Ecclestone wanted to relaunch at the end of the 80s. However, the project was stillborn and, apart from a small demonstration at the 1988 Italian Grand Prix, the 164 Procar, a real F1 car with a roof, was quickly consigned to the Arese museum. Well, it's a sort of descendant that we've unearthed in Brazil.
It's a project that's been in the pipeline for several years and has now come to fruition, with numerous trackday sessions already under its belt. This Master Team Alfa Romeo 164 is not currently intended for racing.
A real 164, completely rebuilt

The team started out with a genuine 164 sedan, which had been completely stripped down and of which very little remained of the original. From the basic chassis, the mechanics rebuilt a tubular "roll cage" cell, in the style of Nascar. A reworked 164 body was added, with more aggressive lines, additional aerodynamic elements (including a huge rear spoiler and a prominent diffuser) and exhaust outlets positioned on the sides, at the level of the side skirts. The bodywork also had to be trimmed to fit the new wheel arches.

The look oscillates between the DTM sedans of the 90s and the big, muscular sedans of South American championships such as the "Stock Car Brasil" or the Argentine "Turismo Carretera". At the front, the Scudetto and the "V" on the hood are more pronounced, and the wheel arches are much wider. The headlamps are shaped like those on the 164, but the three-block division is reminiscent of Zagato's SZ headlamps. The overall weight is just 1,050 kilos.

And a real cuore sportivo

But what makes this beast so appealing is that, unlike other preparations seen in Australia and elsewhere, it isn't powered by a "foreign" engine, such as a Chevrolet or Holden V8, but by a 3-liter 24-valve Busso V6. This is not the engine used in the "guinea pig" sedan, which was equipped with a 190 hp 12-valve V6 Busso, but another engine. It has been reworked to deliver 380 hp. A very interesting power-to-weight ratio, and above all, a raging sound! You can also follow them on Instagram !
