Introducing the Horus SC73: a 335 hp Alfa Romeo 4C that could have been the GTA!

L'Alfa Romeo The 4C, 12 years after its launch, continues to arouse the passion of Alfisti. It's the Biscione's last production coupé sports car to date. And if it didn't have the honor of an official GTA version, others did! It doesn't have the record of Pogea Racing's 4C Nemesis, which exceeded 400 hp, but the Horus SC73 is far from ridiculous! With a name like that of an Egyptian divinity, it's bound to go straight to the top.

A transfigured engine

SC73 is the name of the tuner in question, Scara 73. To guarantee the best possible performance, the engine and gearbox mapping were specifically developed. Further modifications were made to the oversized intercooler, which keeps the temperatures generated by increased performance under control. The intercooler was developed with a motorsport radiator core, CNC lower plate and carbon upper plate, smooth on the inside for excellent fluid dynamics and unrivalled thermal efficiency.

The 1.7L turbo engine now delivers 335 hp and 515 Nm of torque, compared with 240 hp and 350 Nm for the original Alfa Romeo 4C. Performance? According to Scara73, the 0 to 100 km/h time is 3.05 seconds, the 0 to 200 km/h time 7.05 seconds, for a top speed of 306 km/h. The raucous roar of the engine is enhanced by a 3-tailpipe titanium exhaust system, while the chassis is equipped with öhlins racing-style, bi-directional suspension with separate compression and rebound damping.

An enormous slimming cure!

To achieve such a result, the greatest effort went into lightening the car, in the pure "GTA" (alleggerita) spirit of the Bertone GT coupé of the 60s. Using autoclaved carbon fiber, the gains are impressive. The 17- and 18-inch forged wheels, in Quadrifoglio gold finish, reduce the weight from 39.6 kg to 27 kg. Carbon and alcantara bucket seats reduce seat weight from 18.3 kg to 5 kg.

The magic of carbon reduces the weight of the doors from 46.2 kg to 17 kg. The end result? The 4C Horus weighs in at 769 kilos unladen, almost 200 kilos less than the base 4C, which in itself was very light for a modern car, being under a ton unladen! Horus promises to "feel the difference in every bend", and we'd like to believe it!

Inside, carbon is also king, notably on the center console and even the steering wheel paddles, but the most notable visual change is the steering wheel. The original one isn't necessarily very popular with Alfists, who will find here a 3-spoke Racing-type steering wheel, with an on-axis wheel position indicator. Price on request for conversion.

  1. It could have been etc.... with ifs and buts. That's the problem with Alfa, there's a lot of "could have been, should have been, almost was etc...", but in the end no realization, ex SUV Kamal, Mito GTA and cabrio, seg E sedan, etc....

  2. It's crazy to see all the passion that emanates from Alfa Romeo, and to see what the decision-makers make of it, or don't make of it, as the case may be.

  6. And then there was the 33 Stradale.
As for the transformation in question, it would be more accurate to speak of a transfiguration. All body and interior parts have been completely rebuilt in carbon.
No other manufacturer has gone so far.
Bravo to this craftsman in the noblest sense of the word.
You could say he's a magician.
335 bhp for 769 kg - figures that should make even the most jaded supercar enthusiast dream, now accustomed not only to 4-digit power figures but also to anvil weights flirting with or even exceeding 2 tonnes!
