Abarth updates its 185 hp sports SUV (with a Maserati-inspired grille?)

Whereas in Europe, Abarth is trying to win over customers with its 100 % electric models (the 500e and the recently launched 600e), which are still not very successful, the Scorpion brand is quietly pursuing its expansion... in Brazil. And with some success! There, the Abarth Pulse, a small SUV launched in 2022, is the perfect embodiment of the brand's sporting spirit. For 2025, this model gets a makeover, with a reworked exterior, new technological features and an interior that's more refined than ever.

A Maserati-style grille?

The first thing that catches the eye is the Pulse's new front end, featuring a new upper grille with sharp vertical lines in gloss black and red, which will immediately remind Italian design fans of something... Yes, the Maserati inspiration seems obvious, even if no official affiliation is claimed. Coincidence or a nod to other brands in the Stellantis group? Whatever the case, this new look, combined with a redesigned bumper, reinforces the SUV's aggressive and exclusive allure.

Sportier, more technological

But the evolution doesn't stop there. The Pulse gains a panoramic roof, specific 18-inch wheels in gloss black with red details, and a resolutely premium interior: electric sports seats with embroidered Abarth logo, upholstery with red stitching, vinyl door panel, and leather steering wheel.

Under the hood is the 185 hp (270 Nm) T270 turbo engine, mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The result is a 0-100 km/h time of 7.6 seconds and a top speed of 215 km/h, all with an exclusive driving mode called "Poisonfor even more responsive throttle response.

An Abarth SUV with all the bells and whistles... except that it won't be coming to Europe

The Pulse Abarth also boasts a full complement of high-tech equipment: 10.1″ touchscreen, 7″ digital dashboard, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, induction charger, remote start, auto climate, rain/light sensors, rearview camera, parking aid, emergency braking, and lane departure warning.

The price? Around €27,000 in Brazil (R$ 157,990), a very competitive price considering the features on offer. As a reminder, in Europe, an Abarth 500e costs €36,900...

What if Abarth made the right choice?

In the face of growing disinterest in unaffordable electric city cars and persistent demand for affordable, high-performance combustion models, we can't help but think : If only this Pulse Abarth were sold in Europe, it could be a real success. It embodies exactly what some people still expect from Abarth: a fun, muscular, well-equipped little SUV.

But for now, we'll have to make do with the photos... and dream about this SUV that combines the spirit of Abarth with a hint of Maserati.

  1. But why don't we have an Abarth like the Pulse in Europe anymore?
With a combustion engine and an exhaust that's good for the ears.
An Abarth doesn't necessarily have a lot of power, but it does have feeling and sound.

  3. Aufgrund der Flotten-CO2-Ziele werden wir das Auto nie in Europa sehen. Schließlich müssen wir die Welt alleine retten, während uns alle rundherum auslachen.
