Foto de Nicolas Anderbergani para a Italpassion<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>O Grande Pr\u00e9mio, regido a partir de 1934 pela F\u00f3rmula 750 (peso 750 quilos e cilindrada livre) e a partir de 1938 pela F\u00f3rmula 3 litros, foi dominado pelas equipas alem\u00e3s Mercedes e Auto-union. Cansados desta supremacia, os italianos mudaram para a categoria de carros pequenos em 1938, onde a capacidade do motor era limitada a 1.500cc com sobrealimenta\u00e7\u00e3o. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/pt\/alfa-romeo\/\">Alfa Romeo<\/a> desenvolve a 158 e <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/pt\/maserati\/\">Maserati<\/a> responder com o 4CL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A Maserati concebeu um novo motor de quatro cilindros em linha, que desenvolvia mais 30 a 50 cv do que o anterior motor de seis cilindros em linha, gra\u00e7as a um maior n\u00famero de v\u00e1lvulas (agora quatro por cilindro), \u00e0 utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o de um compressor mais potente e a um ligeiro aumento da taxa de compress\u00e3o. De acordo com a tradi\u00e7\u00e3o da Maserati, o motor foi montado no chassis de um modelo anterior, o Maserati 6CM. Foto de Nicolas Anderbergani para a Italpassion<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Embora tivesse uma dist\u00e2ncia entre eixos quase id\u00eantica \u00e0 do Maserati 6CM, o 4CL tinha uma via 5 cm mais larga e era mais baixo gra\u00e7as ao reposicionamento dos suportes das molas dos amortecedores. Este chassis tradicional era revestido por uma carro\u00e7aria baixa feita de pain\u00e9is de liga leve, tamb\u00e9m fabricados pela Maserati. A Maserati produziu tamb\u00e9m uma vers\u00e3o aerodin\u00e2mica do 4CL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-9-16 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Maserati 4CL durante o Grande Pr\u00e9mio M\u00f3naco Hist\u00f3rico 2026\" width=\"563\" height=\"1000\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/Exvebe3MUhc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Humilha\u00e7\u00e3o em Tripoli, mas um per\u00edodo feliz no p\u00f3s-guerra<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Conduzida por Luigi Villoresi, a vers\u00e3o aerodin\u00e2mica do 4CL conquistou a pole position na sua primeira apari\u00e7\u00e3o no Grande Pr\u00e9mio de Tripoli de 1939, no circuito de Melhalla constru\u00eddo pelos italianos na sua col\u00f3nia. E sim, os alem\u00e3es tiveram tempo para reagir \u00e0 decis\u00e3o dos italianos de restringir o Grande Pr\u00e9mio de Tripoli a carros pequenos, uma forma indireta de expulsar as m\u00e1quinas alem\u00e3s. A Mercedes desenvolveu este W165 em apenas 7 meses, que era uma esp\u00e9cie de vers\u00e3o reduzida do formid\u00e1vel W125.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Durante a corrida, dois dos tr\u00eas Maseratis inscritos tiveram de se retirar devido a problemas de motor, o que significou que o Mercedes-Benz venceu a corrida. No entanto, a vit\u00f3ria chegou dois Grandes Pr\u00e9mios mais tarde, no Grande Pr\u00e9mio de N\u00e1poles, com o privado John Peter Wakefield ao volante. Luigi Villoresi conduziu o 4CL \u00e0 vit\u00f3ria na edi\u00e7\u00e3o de 1940 da Targa Florio. O 4CL foi um dos melhores carros do final dos anos 40 e Luigi Villoresi venceu novamente o Grande Pr\u00e9mio de Nice de 1946. O 4CL evoluiu depois para o 4CLT com a ado\u00e7\u00e3o de um chassis tubular e participou nas primeiras \u00e9pocas do campeonato de F\u00f3rmula 1, mas a Alfa Romeo e a Ferrari estavam \u00e0 sua frente em termos de desempenho.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A uma curva de dist\u00e2ncia!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>O 4CL est\u00e1 sempre presente nas corridas hist\u00f3ricas. A S\u00e9rie A1, um santu\u00e1rio para os pioneiros do pr\u00e9-guerra, proporcionou um final cruel a Richard Bradley. O piloto brit\u00e2nico foi imperial ao volante do seu Maserati 4CL n.\u00ba 30, que foi conduzido em 1939-40 por Giovanni Rocco e depois pelo franc\u00eas Robert Mazaud em 1946, no Grande Pr\u00e9mio de Marselha, entre outros. Bradley dominou a corrida do princ\u00edpio ao fim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Na \u00faltima volta, \u00e0 sa\u00edda da Rascasse, com apenas a curva Anthony Nogu\u00e8s para percorrer, ele estava prestes a conquistar as honras quando um problema mec\u00e2nico fez com que a sua moto parasse subitamente! Foi uma desilus\u00e3o terr\u00edvel, que beneficiou o seu perseguidor Patrick Blakeney-Edwards. Com a sua Frazer-Nash Monoplace n.\u00ba 42, ele realizou o roubo do ano.
