Lan\u00e7ado em 1931, era alimentado por um motor de oito cilindros em linha de 2,3 litros sobrealimentado que debitava cerca de 175 cv. O motor tinha dois blocos e cabe\u00e7as de cilindro em liga leve, com duas v\u00e1lvulas por cilindro e duas \u00e1rvores de cames \u00e0 cabe\u00e7a acionadas por engrenagens. Com um peso de cerca de 920 quilos, a besta \u00e9 capaz de atingir velocidades at\u00e9 210 km\/h. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No seu primeiro ano, o carro ganhou a Targa Florio com Tazio Nuvolari, as 24 Horas de Le Mans com Lord Howe e Sir Henry Birkin, e o Grande Pr\u00e9mio de It\u00e1lia com Giuseppe Campari e Tazio Nuvolari. Foi esta vit\u00f3ria no circuito da Lombardia que deu \u00e0 m\u00e1quina de corrida o nome de \u201cMonza\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Veni, vidi, vici!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Em 1932, uma grande estreia: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/pt\/alfa-romeo\/\">Alfa Romeo<\/a> fez a sua primeira apari\u00e7\u00e3o oficial no Grande Pr\u00e9mio do M\u00f3naco, realizado pela primeira vez em 1929. O seu chefe de equipa, Aldo Giovannini, inscreveu tr\u00eas carros Alfa Romeo Monza vermelhos de 2,3 litros especialmente preparados para Tazio Nuvolari, Giuseppe Campari e Mario Umberto Borzacchini. Um quarto carro, um Monza branco, foi para o alem\u00e3o Rudolf Caracciola, que ainda n\u00e3o era membro da equipa oficial de trabalho. Caracciola tinha, no entanto, assinado um contrato com a Alfa Romeo para 1932, na sequ\u00eancia da retirada da Daimler-Benz da competi\u00e7\u00e3o no final de 1931. Nuvolari, que tinha arrancado apenas em 11\u00ba lugar, subiu como uma flecha at\u00e9 ao segundo lugar ap\u00f3s apenas meia hora de corrida! Na volta 30, Chiron comete um erro na chicane e capota, felizmente sem gravidade, mas retira-se! Nuvolari herda a lideran\u00e7a e tem de enfrentar o regresso de Carraciola no final da corrida, que se adapta rapidamente a Monza! Nuvolari tamb\u00e9m tem problemas de igni\u00e7\u00e3o, mas aguenta-se e vence por apenas 2,8 segundos do Monza branco!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Um truque a mais!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Em 1933, a cilindrada do Monza foi aumentada para 2,6 litros, aumentando a sua pot\u00eancia de 165 para 180 cv e a sua velocidade m\u00e1xima para 225 km\/h, at\u00e9 a Scuderia Ferrari receber os novos P3. Nuvolari regressou e travou uma luta feroz pela vit\u00f3ria com o seu grande rival, Achille Varzi, que tinha um Bugatti Type 51. Os dois homens mant\u00eam-se atentos um ao outro e disputam a lideran\u00e7a \u00e0 vez. No in\u00edcio da 99\u00aa e \u00faltima volta, depois de mais de 3 horas de corrida, Nuvolari e Varzi estavam roda com roda, tocando-se perigosamente na curva do Casino, mas o motor do Monza desistiu no t\u00fanel e o \u201cMantuan voador\u201d teve de se retirar, deixando a vit\u00f3ria para Varzi. Depois de ter sido ajudado por alguns espectadores e mec\u00e2nicos a empurrar o seu carro, foi mesmo desclassificado. Este novo problema de fiabilidade veio agravar ainda mais a rela\u00e7\u00e3o j\u00e1 de si conflituosa de Nuvolari com Enzo Ferrari, e o italiano acabou por bater com a porta e partir para a
