As grandes berlinas de estrada n\u00e3o costumam ter o tamanho certo, mas h\u00e1 sempre excep\u00e7\u00f5es! O 164, por exemplo, esteve perto de correr no campeonato Procar de 1989, uma ideia lan\u00e7ada por Bernie Ecclestone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No entanto, o 164 Procar era um prot\u00f3tipo de silhueta que pouco tinha a ver com a berlina de produ\u00e7\u00e3o original, e estava equipado com um motor V10 que tinha sido concebido principalmente para a F1! Desenvolvia 620 cv \u00e0s 13.300 rpm. A primeira grande berlina de estrada da Alfa Romeo a ser produzida desde a aquisi\u00e7\u00e3o pela Fiat e a fus\u00e3o com a Lancia, o 164 com tra\u00e7\u00e3o dianteira, apresentado em 1987, irritou os puristas e alguma imprensa queixou-se da falta de for\u00e7a do eixo dianteiro. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Voltando aos nossos 164s, a primeira \u00e9poca foi dif\u00edcil, com um carro ainda em desenvolvimento contra uma concorr\u00eancia bem estabelecida. O motor 3.0L V6 24v tinha sido lan\u00e7ado pela marca em 1992, com 211 cv e depois subiu para 230 cv. Apesar da forte concorr\u00eancia, conseguiu bons resultados, incluindo dois p\u00f3dios \u00e0 geral, confirmando o potencial do carro. Em 2004, Ian Brookfield pegou na tocha e teve uma excelente \u00e9poca, terminando em 2\u00ba lugar na sua classe, com uma vit\u00f3ria em Mallory. Ap\u00f3s v\u00e1rias boas corridas, termina em 2\u00ba lugar no Trof\u00e9u Power em 2017. Apesar da instala\u00e7\u00e3o de um motor de 24 v\u00e1lvulas, o desempenho esperado n\u00e3o foi alcan\u00e7ado.
