De acordo com os seus registos, os seus motores ganharam 35 t\u00edtulos SCCA e numerosos campeonatos Trans Am, o equivalente americano do DTM. A lista de pilotos lend\u00e1rios que conduziram carros concebidos pela Huffaker inclui nomes t\u00e3o prestigiados como Bobby Unser, Pedro Rodiguez e Dan Gurney. A Huffaker conduziu in\u00fameros modelos e at\u00e9 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/pt\/ferrari\/\">Ferrari<\/a>, No in\u00edcio dos anos 90, Michelotto construiu tr\u00eas modelos 308 para a competi\u00e7\u00e3o I.M.S.A. na categoria GTU. Michelotto, a oficina de competi\u00e7\u00e3o \u00abn\u00e3o oficial\u00bb da Ferrari, j\u00e1 tinha constru\u00eddo 11 exemplares do Ferrari 308 para utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o na categoria Grupo 4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Um Ferrari 308 com aspeto de stock-car<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Nesta classe MSA GTU, a dire\u00e7\u00e3o, a travagem, a transmiss\u00e3o e a suspens\u00e3o eram deixadas ao crit\u00e9rio do construtor. Os motores maiores e mais potentes eram permitidos ao abrigo das regras de homologa\u00e7\u00e3o. N\u00e3o havia restri\u00e7\u00f5es quanto aos materiais da carro\u00e7aria, com a maioria das equipas a preferir a fibra de vidro amov\u00edvel e de f\u00e1cil repara\u00e7\u00e3o. No exterior, este 308 GTU parece ser uma mistura perfeita entre a agressividade latina da Ferrari e o aspeto maci\u00e7o e musculado dos carros de corrida americanos, como os Transam ou os NASCAR. O chassis \u00e9 um quadro tubular com suspens\u00e3o de balancim interior e molas e amortecedores integrados de estilo F1. Isto reduz o peso n\u00e3o suspenso e torna muito f\u00e1cil a mudan\u00e7a de molas e o ajuste da altura de condu\u00e7\u00e3o. Os trav\u00f5es utilizam pin\u00e7as Alcon com discos de 13\u2019 fornecidos pela Coleman Racing Products. Foi preparado por Bill Pound Automotive (com quem fal\u00e1mos muito recentemente sobre o <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/pt\/ferrari\/este-ferrari-308-gts-e-digno-do-filme-regresso-ao-futuro-com-o-seu-motor-v8-sobrealimentado\/\">308 GTS especial para rampas<\/a>) com modifica\u00e7\u00f5es significativas em rela\u00e7\u00e3o ao original. A frente do motor foi encurtada em 9 cent\u00edmetros para se adaptar \u00e0 dist\u00e2ncia entre eixos e longitudinalmente com a caixa de velocidades Hewland. A bomba de \u00e1gua foi recolocada e o sistema de acionamento da \u00e1rvore de cames foi modificado, assim como a tampa frontal. O motor utiliza correias dentadas TestaRossa, enquanto as \u00e1rvores de cames e os pist\u00f5es foram concebidos por medida com furos especiais. As cabe\u00e7as dos cilindros s\u00e3o alimentadas por v\u00e1lvulas personalizadas com retentores de tit\u00e2nio. O sistema de inje\u00e7\u00e3o eletr\u00f3nica de combust\u00edvel \u00e9 fornecido pela Hillborn Fuel Injection. A inje\u00e7\u00e3o e a igni\u00e7\u00e3o s\u00e3o geridas por uma ECU da EFI Technology. Assim, acabou tudo para estes 308, que datavam do final dos anos 70! Tamb\u00e9m houve a perda de um pacote de patroc\u00ednios. O carro tem estado numa cole\u00e7\u00e3o privada desde 1995. Num encontro nacional do Ferrari Club of America no Summit Point Raceway, um dos carros bateu o melhor F40 inscrito por 2,9 segundos!
