O percurso tem aproximadamente 8,4 km de comprimento e inclui mais de vinte curvas, alternando entre sec\u00e7\u00f5es r\u00e1pidas, sequ\u00eancias t\u00e9cnicas e curvas apertadas. O evento \u00e9 um contrarrel\u00f3gio: o desempenho depende tanto da pot\u00eancia como da tra\u00e7\u00e3o, do equil\u00edbrio do chassis e da coragem do piloto face a tro\u00e7os estreitos sem grandes \u00e1reas livres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ao longo dos anos, o evento tornou-se uma refer\u00eancia regional, atraindo tanto carros modernos de alt\u00edssimo desempenho como carros desportivos cl\u00e1ssicos fortemente modificados. Em 2023, o vencedor foi o Pininfarina Battista.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Uma paix\u00e3o pela Ferrari<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Bill Pound \u00e9 um entusiasta e afinador de Ferrari envolvido no Virginia City HillClimb. A sua experi\u00eancia em corridas remonta aos anos 80, quando foi chefe de equipa e trabalhou em Ferraris preparados pela Michelotto e inscritos no IMSA. Os seus conhecimentos t\u00e9cnicos, combinados com o seu envolvimento em clubes de automobilismo (nomeadamente o Ferrari Owners Club), levaram-no a imaginar um Ferrari 308 radicalmente transformado para as subidas de montanha.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A base deste projeto \u00e9 um <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/pt\/carros\/ferrari-308\/\">Ferrari 308 GTS<\/a> 1982, com o n\u00famero de chassis #40675. O Ferrari, a estrela da Magnum, foi lan\u00e7ado na sua vers\u00e3o desacoplada em setembro de 1977, no Sal\u00e3o I.A.A. de Frankfurt, para preencher a lacuna deixada 3 anos antes pela descontinua\u00e7\u00e3o do 246 GTS. O GTS diferia mecanicamente dos GTBs, com lubrifica\u00e7\u00e3o por c\u00e1rter h\u00famido e dois distribuidores de igni\u00e7\u00e3o em vez de um.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Duplicar a pot\u00eancia<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Foi por volta de 1986 que Bill Pound iniciou esta prepara\u00e7\u00e3o, com o objetivo de criar uma m\u00e1quina capaz de competir com carros de rampa muito mais modernos. O motor \u00e9 o famoso F106AB 90\u00b0 3.0L 16-valve V8, que foi extensivamente modificado com a instala\u00e7\u00e3o de um superalimentador de deslocamento positivo B&amp;M, inje\u00e7\u00e3o de combust\u00edvel mec\u00e2nica Hilborn e alimenta\u00e7\u00e3o de metanol ao estilo Indycar. A pot\u00eancia estimada situa-se entre os 450 e os 480 cv (ou mesmo mais, de acordo com algumas estimativas n\u00e3o oficiais), quase o dobro do 308 original, que atingia os 255 cv. O objetivo era obter um comportamento incisivo e <a>uma forte capacidade<\/a> acelera\u00e7\u00e3o nas curvas. Foi testado em Willow Springs, em particular. O projeto manteve-se essencialmente experimental e demonstrativo. O 308 GTS Hillclimb Special representa um caso at\u00edpico no mundo Ferrari: n\u00e3o \u00e9 um modelo de f\u00e1brica nem uma s\u00e9rie limitada, mas um projeto privado que levou muito longe a prepara\u00e7\u00e3o de um cl\u00e1ssico autom\u00f3vel de turismo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No entanto, n\u00e3o \u00e9 f\u00e1cil revender um Ferrari que foi modificado: o an\u00fancio bastante recente visto no site Ferrari Online listava o 308 GTS Special a um pre\u00e7o de apenas 34.950 $!
