O projeto estava sob a responsabilidade de Wifredo Ricart, que tinha come\u00e7ado a trabalhar na Alfa Romeo como consultor em 1936, antes de intensificar a sua carreira ap\u00f3s a sa\u00edda de Vittorio Jano.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>O Tipo 163 fazia parte de uma gama mais vasta de projectos inovadores, incluindo o Tipo 162 Grand Prix, um monolugar com um motor de 16 cilindros, e o Tipo 162 Grand Prix, um monolugar com um motor de 16 cilindros. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/pt\/alfa-romeo\/alfa-romeo-tipo-512-este-monolugar-com-um-inedito-motor-de-12-cilindros-e-550-cv-iria-dominar-antes-de-ser-abandonado-durante-a-guerra-de-1939\/\">o revolucion\u00e1rio Tipo 512<\/a>O primeiro autom\u00f3vel de competi\u00e7\u00e3o com motor central da Alfa Romeo. O 163 de dois lugares foi concebido para a categoria de carros desportivos de tr\u00eas litros. No entanto, foi planeada uma pequena produ\u00e7\u00e3o de 12 exemplares para a estrada, possivelmente com um motor V12. Ent\u00e3o, o que \u00e9 que estes dois projectos Tipo 512 \/ Tipo 162 t\u00eam a ver com o Tipo 163? Eles formaram a heran\u00e7a gen\u00e9tica do Tipo 163, por assim dizer: o motor veio do 162, o conceito central do motor e o design do chassis vieram do 512.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Uma V16 incr\u00edvel<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>O motor V16 de tr\u00eas litros concebido para o Tipo 162 era fundamentalmente novo, com uma geometria quadrada (di\u00e2metro = curso) e um curso curto de 62 mm. Pela primeira vez na Alfa Romeo, um motor com quatro v\u00e1lvulas por cilindro foi equipado com quatro \u00e1rvores de cames \u00e0 cabe\u00e7a acionadas por engrenagens no centro do bloco do motor em liga leve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"1182\" src=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/moteur-v16.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-45273\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/moteur-v16.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/moteur-v16-420x414.jpg 420w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/moteur-v16-768x756.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/moteur-v16-12x12.jpg 12w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>O \u00e2ngulo de inclina\u00e7\u00e3o de 135 graus dos cilindros permitiu a integra\u00e7\u00e3o org\u00e2nica do complexo sistema de turbocompressores: dois turbocompressores Roots de baixa press\u00e3o e um turbocompressor de alta press\u00e3o. <a>dois aparelhos de alta press\u00e3o<\/a>Esta foi uma estreia mundial para uma tecnologia originalmente utilizada em motores de avi\u00f5es. O motor funcionou pela primeira vez no banco de ensaios em 1940 e desenvolveu imediatamente 490 cv \u00e0s 7.800 rpm, estabelecendo um recorde de pot\u00eancia de 164 cv\/litro. No entanto, para o 163 de produ\u00e7\u00e3o, este motor de competi\u00e7\u00e3o foi concebido sem compress\u00e3o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">O aspeto de um autom\u00f3vel que bate recordes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A vista lateral do Tipo 163 revela imediatamente uma diferen\u00e7a significativa em rela\u00e7\u00e3o ao chassis do Tipo 512: a aus\u00eancia de sobrealimenta\u00e7\u00e3o significava que os dep\u00f3sitos de combust\u00edvel eram mais pequenos. O V16 de 3 litros, posicionado centralmente atr\u00e1s do condutor, produzia 190 cv sem compress\u00e3o \u00e0s 7.450 rpm. Gra\u00e7as a esta disposi\u00e7\u00e3o, o 163 antecipou em v\u00e1rias d\u00e9cadas o conceito de chassis dos prot\u00f3tipos desportivos dos anos 60 e 70. Se o carro parece mais robusto de perfil, isso deve-se em parte \u00e0 inclina\u00e7\u00e3o vertical da frente mesmo \u00e0 frente das rodas e a uma altura total ligeiramente maior, associada \u00e0 posi\u00e7\u00e3o de condu\u00e7\u00e3o vertical. Os bra\u00e7os de suspens\u00e3o, que convergem para a traseira como no 512, e as longarinas do chassis, que tamb\u00e9m convergem, s\u00e3o claramente vis\u00edveis nos planos encontrados nos arquivos. O eixo dianteiro estava tamb\u00e9m equipado com molas helicoidais. Os pedais foram colocados sob o guiador, com o radiador mesmo \u00e0 frente (sem a entrada de ar superior destinada a reduzir a eleva\u00e7\u00e3o, que s\u00f3 se tornaria comum mais tarde). Dado o chassis dianteiro afilado, a posi\u00e7\u00e3o de condu\u00e7\u00e3o inclinada resultante n\u00e3o era provavelmente muito confort\u00e1vel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Os estertores da guerra<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Os planos de produ\u00e7\u00e3o tamb\u00e9m inclu\u00edam a montagem de um 12 cilindros derivado do prot\u00f3tipo S10, exclusivamente para a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de pequenas s\u00e9ries para clientes desportivos. No entanto, perto do final da guerra, a f\u00e1brica de Mil\u00e3o foi alvo de ataques a\u00e9reos dos Aliados, uma vez que a Alfa Romeo era um ator importante na constru\u00e7\u00e3o de motores para avi\u00f5es. Os italianos tomaram a precau\u00e7\u00e3o de transferir o departamento de desenvolvimento para a regi\u00e3o isolada do Lago Orta, \u00e0 entrada dos Alpes, levando consigo os prot\u00f3tipos (162, 163) e as pe\u00e7as j\u00e1 em produ\u00e7\u00e3o, que esconderam numa vivenda. Algumas coisas foram talvez demasiado bem escondidas: o chassis e as pe\u00e7as pr\u00e9-fabricadas do Tipo 163 desapareceram ap\u00f3s a guerra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De acordo com os arquivos, foi parcialmente montado um prot\u00f3tipo e foram tamb\u00e9m produzidas pe\u00e7as sobresselentes. Como j\u00e1 foi referido, o material foi armazenado no Lago d'Orta e, infelizmente, desapareceu desde ent\u00e3o. Os rumores de um poss\u00edvel reaparecimento do autom\u00f3vel revelaram-se sempre infundados. Assim, o primeiro hipercarro permaneceu um fantasma nas pistas e estradas. Teria sido conclu\u00eddo sem a guerra? Como \u00e9 que se teria comportado na estrada? Que velocidade m\u00e1xima teria atingido?
