Esta \u00e9 uma certeza que a marca sediada em Maranello nunca negou, apesar de d\u00e9cadas de rumores, fantasias e projectos mais ou menos cred\u00edveis. Mas h\u00e1 uma exce\u00e7\u00e3o. Apenas uma exce\u00e7\u00e3o. Uma moto que, apesar de n\u00e3o ter sido concebida pela Ferrari, recebeu autoriza\u00e7\u00e3o oficial por escrito da fam\u00edlia Ferrari para ostentar o lend\u00e1rio cavalo empinado. O seu nome: Ferrari 900.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Uma autoriza\u00e7\u00e3o \u00fanica assinada por Piero Ferrari<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A hist\u00f3ria come\u00e7a em 1990. Na altura, David Kay, um reputado engenheiro brit\u00e2nico e antigo especialista da MV Agusta, teve uma ideia que muitos considerariam imposs\u00edvel hoje em dia: criar uma moto que prestasse homenagem a Enzo Ferrari, respeitando o esp\u00edrito t\u00e9cnico e est\u00e9tico de Maranello. Mas Kay n\u00e3o queria apenas um aceno. Ele queria usar oficialmente o nome Ferrari e o famoso Cavallino Rampante. Consciente do que estava em jogo, escreveu diretamente a Piero Ferrari, o filho de Enzo. Contra todas as expectativas, a resposta \u00e9 positiva. Numa carta datada de 23 de maio de 1990 e assinada por Piero Ferrari, David Kay recebeu uma autoriza\u00e7\u00e3o escrita para colocar o bras\u00e3o da Ferrari na sua moto. At\u00e9 hoje, nenhum outro projeto de duas rodas beneficiou de tal acordo. N\u00e3o se tratava de adaptar uma mota existente, mas de conceber uma m\u00e1quina totalmente nova, como se a Ferrari tivesse um dia decidido produzir uma mota de grande turismo ou de resist\u00eancia. A constru\u00e7\u00e3o levar\u00e1 quatro anos e mais de 3.000 horas de trabalho. Cada pe\u00e7a foi feita \u00e0 medida e cada solu\u00e7\u00e3o t\u00e9cnica foi desenvolvida especificamente para esta mota \u00fanica. O quadro tubular \u00e9 feito de a\u00e7o Reynolds 531, um material conhecido pelas suas qualidades mec\u00e2nicas. A engenharia foi levada a um n\u00edvel raramente visto numa moto constru\u00edda \u00e0 m\u00e3o, com uma obsess\u00e3o pelo detalhe que lembra os m\u00e9todos de fabricantes excepcionais.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Motor concebido de raiz<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>No cora\u00e7\u00e3o do Ferrari 900 est\u00e1 um motor completamente novo. O pr\u00f3prio David Kay concebeu e construiu um motor de quatro cilindros em linha de 900cc, arrefecido a ar, com duas \u00e1rvores de cames \u00e0 cabe\u00e7a e oito v\u00e1lvulas. Os c\u00e1rteres foram fabricados em magn\u00e9sio e liga leve, num esp\u00edrito muito pr\u00f3ximo do das corridas. O motor produzia 105 cv \u00e0s 8.800 rpm, um valor respeit\u00e1vel para a sua \u00e9poca, especialmente para um motor inteiramente feito \u00e0 m\u00e3o. Combinado com uma caixa de cinco velocidades, este motor permitia \u00e0 moto atingir uma velocidade de cerca de 265 km\/h. Adopta muitos dos tra\u00e7os de estilo carater\u00edsticos da marca italiana. A carenagem dianteira, a forma do tanque de combust\u00edvel, as entradas de ar laterais inspiradas na Testarossa e as luzes traseiras integradas s\u00e3o claramente uma reminisc\u00eancia dos Ferraris dos anos 80 e 90. Foi apresentado em numerosas publica\u00e7\u00f5es especializadas, exposto em prestigiados sal\u00f5es e at\u00e9 em programas de televis\u00e3o. Apareceu em revistas do Jap\u00e3o, It\u00e1lia, Alemanha, Espanha e Reino Unido, prova do interesse suscitado por esta cria\u00e7\u00e3o invulgar. Em 2008, a mota foi oferecida em leil\u00e3o com uma estimativa muito ambiciosa (cerca de 220 000 euros), mas n\u00e3o encontrou comprador. Alguns anos mais tarde, acabou por mudar de m\u00e3os por cerca de 80 000 libras, ou seja, pouco mais de 105 000 euros na altura.
