Recuamos no tempo at\u00e9 antes da Segunda Guerra Mundial, com o Tipo 512, que abriu novos caminhos em muitas \u00e1reas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Alfa Romeo impotente face ao rolo compressor alem\u00e3o<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A partir de 1934, as marcas italianas e francesas, que tinham monopolizado a maior parte das vit\u00f3rias durante muitos anos, foram colocadas na linha. Com milh\u00f5es de marcos do Reich generosamente atribu\u00eddos pelo novo regime nazi, a Mercedes e a Auto-Union receberam a tarefa de triunfar no Grande Pr\u00e9mio. Para o Reich, este era um desafio eminentemente pol\u00edtico, concebido para simbolizar a motoriza\u00e7\u00e3o de uma Alemanha conquistadora e tecnologicamente avan\u00e7ada, fornecer mat\u00e9ria-prima para o moinho de propaganda e testar novas solu\u00e7\u00f5es para a futura guerra mecanizada. Munidas de recursos colossais e de uma clara superioridade tecnol\u00f3gica, as equipas alem\u00e3s acumularam vit\u00f3rias e t\u00edtulos, relegando os carros italianos para o papel de figurantes, \u00e0 exce\u00e7\u00e3o de algumas proezas como a de Tazio Nuvolari em N\u00fcrburgring, em 1935.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/auto-unio-type-a.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-43286\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/auto-unio-type-a.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/auto-unio-type-a-420x280.jpg 420w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/auto-unio-type-a-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/auto-unio-type-a-18x12.jpg 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Auto-Uni\u00e3o Tpe A<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Embora a Mercedes tenha ficado com a maior parte do cr\u00e9dito, foi a Auto-Union que criou a sensa\u00e7\u00e3o ao revelar o monolugar Type A. Concebida por Ferdinand Porsche, esta m\u00e1quina revolucionou as corridas com a sua nova arquitetura de motor, colocada numa posi\u00e7\u00e3o central traseira atr\u00e1s do condutor. O condutor estava posicionado bem \u00e0 frente do carro, com a cavalaria, um motor V16, nas suas costas. Isto foi mais de vinte anos antes da revolu\u00e7\u00e3o do motor traseiro na F1 com a Cooper e a Lotus! O conceito continuou a evoluir, culminando no C-Type de 1936 com o seu chassis de viga de alum\u00ednio e um V16 sobrealimentado de 520 cv! Com o seu motor central traseiro e pot\u00eancia demon\u00edaca, os Auto-Unions eram muito dif\u00edceis de conduzir, para n\u00e3o dizer perigosos, mas o seu desempenho era espantoso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">As coisas est\u00e3o a ficar mais dif\u00edceis para a Alfa Romeo<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A Alfa Romeo tenta reagir, mas sem sucesso. Para al\u00e9m de problemas financeiros recorrentes e de um sistema de gest\u00e3o desportiva que envolvia o conselho de administra\u00e7\u00e3o da marca, o Estado italiano e a Ferrari, os monolugares 8C-35 e 12C-36, e depois o 12C-37, n\u00e3o conseguiram seguir com dignidade as pisadas do P3. Quanto ao 308, introduzido em 1938 de acordo com a nova f\u00f3rmula de 3 litros, faltou-lhe cruelmente a pot\u00eancia contra os alem\u00e3es. \u00c9 preciso dizer que a marca estava a espalhar-se demasiado na altura, desenvolvendo tr\u00eas motores diferentes: um 8 cilindros em linha, um V12 e um V16!  O grande Nuvolari, exasperado com os problemas t\u00e9cnicos e com a falta de desempenho, mudou-se mesmo para a Auto-Union em 1939!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"1938 Alfa Romeo Tipo 308 (8C-308) Carro de Grande Pr\u00e9mio Pr\u00e9-Guerra - 3.0-Litros Straight-8 Roots Supercharged\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/v05JJvEo43Y?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A partir de 1938, a Alfa Romeo desistiu de desafiar a Mercedes e a Auto-Union na F\u00f3rmula internacional de 3 litros (aquela em que o campeonato europeu se baseava) e concentrou-se na categoria inferior de 1,5 litros de \"carros pequenos\", que se tornaria o novo padr\u00e3o do Grande Pr\u00e9mio a partir de 1940. A Ferrari supervisionou o desenvolvimento do Alfa Romeo 158, movido por um motor de 8 cilindros em linha de 1500cc com compressor Roots, deixando a Mercedes e a Auto-Union a partilhar os louros na f\u00f3rmula principal do Grande Pr\u00e9mio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/alfa-romeo-158.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-43283\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/alfa-romeo-158.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/alfa-romeo-158-420x280.jpg 420w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/alfa-romeo-158-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/alfa-romeo-158-18x12.jpg 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Alfa Romeo 158<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Revolu\u00e7\u00e3o(\u00f5es) no Alfa<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A gest\u00e3o desportiva tamb\u00e9m sofreu uma grande mudan\u00e7a, voltando a estar sob o controlo direto do construtor atrav\u00e9s do seu departamento oficial de corridas Alfa Corse, que absorveu a Scuderia Ferrari e transferiu a infraestrutura de Modena para Portello.  Em 1939, a Alfa Romeo j\u00e1 estava a pensar em substituir o 158 em prepara\u00e7\u00e3o para a \u00e9poca de 1940. Enzo Ferrari bate com a porta, j\u00e1 n\u00e3o suportando a perda de liberdade e controlo de que gozava na Scuderia. Mas o engenheiro espanhol Wifredo Ricart, cuja rela\u00e7\u00e3o com a Ferrari tinha sido dif\u00edcil, come\u00e7ou a conceber um monolugar inovador. Adepto de uma engenharia mec\u00e2nica sofisticada e nobre, que seria reencontrada ap\u00f3s a guerra na Hispano-Suiza, Ricart tinha sucedido a Vittorio Jano, que tinha partido para a Lancia. Ele j\u00e1 tinha projetado o impressionante Tipo 162, movido por um V16 comprimido a 135\u00b0, com uma cilindrada de 3 litros e 490 cv! O Tipo 512 viria a marcar uma verdadeira revolu\u00e7\u00e3o, tanto para a Alfa Romeo como para o automobilismo em geral.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"430\" src=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/alfa-romeo-512-carrosserie.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-43285\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/alfa-romeo-512-carrosserie.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/alfa-romeo-512-carrosserie-420x151.jpg 420w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/alfa-romeo-512-carrosserie-768x275.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/alfa-romeo-512-carrosserie-18x6.jpg 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Alfa Romeo Tipo 512<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Inspirado pelo desempenho do Auto-Union, Wifredo Ricart optou por uma arquitetura com o motor posicionado centralmente na traseira e longitudinalmente, uma estreia para a Alfa Romeo. O motor em quest\u00e3o era um motor boxer original de 12 cilindros, de curso curto, com uma cilindrada de 1,5 litros, sobrealimentado por dois compressores. A frente, arredondada no puro estilo aerodin\u00e2mico da \u00e9poca, deu-lhe a alcunha de \"carro charuto\", enquanto a traseira se distinguia por uma cauda pontiaguda concebida para acentuar o apoio aerodin\u00e2mico. O dep\u00f3sito de combust\u00edvel foi posicionado diretamente atr\u00e1s do condutor e a caixa de velocidades atr\u00e1s do eixo traseiro. No in\u00edcio do desenvolvimento, o motor foi classificado com 225 cv, mas um teste de bancada mediu 370 cv \u00e0s 8.600 rpm. No entanto, no museu da Alfa Romeo, onde os dois 512 est\u00e3o em exposi\u00e7\u00e3o, afirma-se que o carro atingiria uma velocidade m\u00e1xima de 350 km\/h com uma pot\u00eancia de 550 cv \u00e0s 11.000 rpm. Estes n\u00fameros s\u00e3o dif\u00edceis de confirmar, uma vez que os carros nunca participaram oficialmente numa corrida. Mas podemos sonhar!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No entanto, foram efectuados dois testes. Em 19 de junho de 1940, um Tipo 158 equipado com a suspens\u00e3o traseira do 512 foi conduzido na autoestrada Mil\u00e3o-Varese por Attilio Marinoni, que infelizmente morreu num acidente com um cami\u00e3o. Em setembro de 1940, o Alfa Romeo Tipo 512 foi oficialmente testado pela primeira vez pelo mec\u00e2nico e piloto de testes Consalvo Sanesi em Monza. Quando o carro atingiu altas velocidades na pista, Sanesi ficou visivelmente arrepiado com o comportamento do carro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/alfa-romeo-512-test.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-43284\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/alfa-romeo-512-test.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/alfa-romeo-512-test-420x280.jpg 420w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/alfa-romeo-512-test-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/alfa-romeo-512-test-18x12.jpg 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c9 claro que os acontecimentos pol\u00edticos e militares que se seguiram tornaram tudo isto muito aned\u00f3tico. Os dois prot\u00f3tipos foram fechados numa f\u00e1brica, com rumores de que o trabalho de desenvolvimento continuou at\u00e9 1943, mas sem sucesso.  Ap\u00f3s a guerra, a Alfa Romeo decidiu prolongar a carreira do 158 para retomar as corridas, antes de lhe dar o 159 como seu descendente, que triunfou nos dois primeiros campeonatos mundiais de F1.
