Em 1968, fundou a Italdesign, um gabinete de design que viria a redefinir o autom\u00f3vel moderno. O seu primeiro grande projeto sob esta nova bandeira? Giugiaro pegou no chassis n.\u00ba 750.33.116 deste civilizado carro de corrida, o Tipo 33\/2 Stradale, e transformou-o num conceito rolante. Um motor de 230 cv \u00e0s 8.000 rpm, capaz de levar este coup\u00e9 ultra-leve de 700 kg a velocidades superiores a 260 km\/h. Mais tarde, por raz\u00f5es de fiabilidade, este bloco foi substitu\u00eddo pelo V8 de 2,6 litros do futuro Alfa Montreal, que ainda produzia 200 cv. Aqui, Giugiaro atreve-se a utilizar linhas angulares e esticadas, sempre equilibradas. Com o seu spoiler ajust\u00e1vel eletricamente, janelas envolventes e pilares cromados, o Iguana combinava desempenho e fic\u00e7\u00e3o cient\u00edfica muito antes do seu tempo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Atualmente, o \u00fanico exemplar do Alfa Romeo Iguana repousa no Museo Storico Alfa Romeo, um testemunho de uma era em que o design italiano ousava fazer tudo.
