Mas mesmo no Velho Continente, as corridas de arrancada est\u00e3o associadas aos \"muscle cars\" americanos. A estrutura do carro foi modificada, com refor\u00e7os e uma grande abertura no capot que deixa sair o grande superalimentador. A Autodelta tinha desenvolvido dois modelos de competi\u00e7\u00e3o, mas estes nunca foram constru\u00eddos. Al\u00e9m disso, o importador alem\u00e3o do Biscione sentiu que o mercado era prometedor e encarregou a Delta AutoTechnik de desenvolver GTVs de oito cilindros. O resultado em 1977 foi o GTV8 2.6i, que utilizava o mesmo bloco do Montreal. Mas a Delta AutoTechnik foi \u00e0 fal\u00eancia e apenas foram constru\u00eddos 2-3 exemplares, em vez das centenas planeadas.
