Maandenlang leek alles erop te wijzen dat de beroemde 1.2L PureTech-motor van Stellantis<\/a> liep langzaam ten einde. Tussen de terugkeer van Fiat FireFly-motoren, industri\u00eble investeringen in Italiaanse motoren en de beperkingen opgelegd door de toekomstige Euro 7-norm, waren er veel tekenen dat de Groep de overstap van Franse naar Italiaanse motoren aan het voorbereiden was. Offici\u00eble informatie heeft daar nu echter verandering in gebracht.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Terwijl een groot aantal media ons idee van een geleidelijke vervanging van de PureTech-motor door Fiat GSE-motoren<\/a>, Stellantis heeft eindelijk zijn standpunt verduidelijkt met Caradisiac<\/a> De EB2 Gen3-motor is ook compatibel gemaakt met de Euro 7-normen. De motor zal na eind 2027 onder de motorkap blijven in de auto's die hij nu aandrijft. Met andere woorden, PureTech is niet ten dode opgeschreven. Tenminste niet op korte termijn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De PureTech zal de komst van Euro 7 overleven<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Deze opheldering is verre van onbeduidend. Maandenlang dachten velen dat de inwerkingtreding van de Euro 7-norm automatisch het einde zou betekenen van de PSA-motoren in de compacte modellen van de Groep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Het moet gezegd worden dat de context duidelijk in die richting ging. Stellantis deed een reeks aankondigingen met betrekking tot Fiat FireFly-motoren, waaronder de uitbreiding van de investeringen om te voldoen aan de Euro 7-normen, de ontwikkeling van nieuwe hybride versies, de industri\u00eble modernisering in Itali\u00eb en de opvoering van de elektrische eDCT-versnellingsbak. Tegelijkertijd leken de GSE-motoren geleidelijk de nieuwe thermische showcase van de Groep te worden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maar de offici\u00eble verklaring verandert het perspectief. Als de EB2 Gen3-motor inderdaad compatibel is met Euro 7, betekent dit dat een model dat vandaag op de markt wordt gebracht met deze motor ook na november 2027 nog kan worden verkocht zonder van motor te hoeven veranderen. En dit geldt voor veel meer auto's dan je zou denken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Directe gevolgen voor modellen van Alfa Romeo, Fiat en Lancia<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In de praktijk betekent dit dat verschillende strategische modellen van Stellantis deze motor waarschijnlijk zullen behouden tot het einde van hun commerci\u00eble carri\u00e8re. Dit geldt met name voor de\u2019Alfa Romeo Junior<\/a>de Lancia Ypsilon<\/a> of de Fiat Grande Panda<\/a>, Ze werden allemaal gelanceerd met verschillende varianten van de motor, bekend onder verschillende namen afhankelijk van het merk: PureTech, EB2 Gen3, TGEN3 of Turbo 100. Zelfs de aangekondigde toekomstige modellen, zoals de aankomende Fiat Grizzly<\/a> of de nieuwe Lancia Gamma, zouden deze mechanische basis gedurende hun hele carri\u00e8re kunnen behouden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dit is precies waar de situatie bijzonder interessant wordt: de PureTech-motor, waarvan velen al dachten dat hij het einde van zijn levensduur naderde, zou uiteindelijk de belangrijkste verbrandingsmotor kunnen blijven in een groot deel van de stadsauto's en compacte auto's van de Groep tot het begin van de jaren 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En de Fiat FireFly-motor?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Deze nieuwe lezing van de Stellantis-strategie betekent niet dat Fiat GSE Turbo-motoren uit het landschap verdwijnen. Alles wijst erop dat Euro 7-compatibele FireFly-motoren nog steeds deel uitmaken van de industri\u00eble plannen van de Groep. Maar hun rol zou wel eens anders kunnen zijn dan aanvankelijk was voorzien.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In plaats van de PureTech-motoren onmiddellijk te vervangen in bestaande modellen, zouden deze Italiaanse motoren uiteindelijk gereserveerd kunnen worden voor toekomstige generaties van volledig nieuwe voertuigen. Met andere woorden, Stellantis zou de komende jaren verschillende families van verbrandingsmotoren naast elkaar kunnen hebben leven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tussen ontwikkelingskosten, Euro 7 beperkingen, verschillen in wereldmarkten en de vertragende elektrische overgang in Europa, lijkt Stellantis zich nu te willen richten op verschillende technische oplossingen in parallel in plaats van op \u00e9\u00e9n motorarchitectuur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Krijgen we Turbo 100's met de Puretech-motor, Turbo 130's en Turbo 150's met de Firefly (GSE)-motor en Turbo 200's met de GME-motor?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

E\u00e9n ding is nu zeker: in tegenstelling tot wat velen enkele weken geleden dachten, zal de PureTech-motor zijn carri\u00e8re inderdaad voortzetten na 2027.
