Volgens hun gegevens hebben hun motoren 35 SCCA-titels gewonnen en talloze Trans Am-kampioenschappen, het Amerikaanse equivalent van de DTM. Op de lijst van legendarische coureurs die in auto's van Huffaker hebben gereden staan prestigieuze namen als Bobby Unser, Pedro Rodiguez en Dan Gurney. Huffaker heeft talloze modellen en zelfs <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/nl\/ferrari\/\">Ferrari<\/a>, In het begin van de jaren 90 bouwde Michelotto drie 308-modellen voor I.M.S.A.-competitie in de GTU-categorie. Michelotto, Ferrari's \u00abonoffici\u00eble\u00bb racewerkplaats, had al 11 exemplaren van de Ferrari 308 gebouwd voor gebruik in de Groep 4-categorie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Een Ferrari 308 met stock-car looks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In deze MSA GTU-klasse werden stuurinrichting, remmen, transmissie en ophanging overgelaten aan de fabrikant. Grotere en krachtigere motoren waren toegestaan volgens de homologatieregels. Er waren geen beperkingen voor het materiaal van de carrosserie, maar de meeste teams gaven de voorkeur aan verwijderbaar en gemakkelijk te repareren glasvezel. Aan de buitenkant lijkt deze 308 GTU een perfecte mix van Ferrari's Latijnse agressie en de massieve, gespierde look van Amerikaanse racewagens zoals Transam of NASCAR. Het chassis is een buizenframe met inboard rocker ophanging en F1-stijl ge\u00efntegreerde veren en dempers. Dit vermindert het onafgeveerde gewicht en maakt het wisselen van veren en het aanpassen van de rijhoogte erg gemakkelijk. De remmen maken gebruik van Alcon remklauwen met 13\u2033 schijven geleverd door Coleman Racing Products. Hij werd geprepareerd door Bill Pound Automotive (met wie we onlangs spraken over de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/nl\/ferrari\/deze-ferrari-308-gts-is-de-film-back-to-the-future-waardig-met-zijn-supercharged-v8-motor\/\">308 GTS Hillclimb speciaal<\/a>) met aanzienlijke wijzigingen ten opzichte van het origineel. De voorkant van de motor werd met 9 centimeter ingekort voor de wielbasis en in lengterichting met de Hewland versnellingsbak. De waterpomp is verplaatst en de nokkenasaandrijving is gewijzigd, net als de voorklep. De motor maakt gebruik van TestaRossa-tandriemen, terwijl de nokkenassen en zuigers speciaal zijn ontworpen met speciale boringen. De cilinderkoppen worden gevoed door op maat gemaakte kleppen met titanium keerringen. Het elektronische brandstofinjectiesysteem wordt geleverd door Hillborn Fuel Injection. De injectie en ontsteking worden aangestuurd door een ECU van EFI Technology. De zwaar gemodificeerde 308 GTB-motor van Bill Pound Automotive produceerde naar verluidt 390 pk bij 9600 tpm voor een leeggewicht van slechts 900 kilo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/308-moteur.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-46896\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/308-moteur.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/308-moteur-420x280.jpg 420w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/308-moteur-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/308-moteur-18x12.jpg 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Slechte timing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Maar toen de auto's in 1990 klaar waren, werd er een wijziging in de regelgeving doorgevoerd, waardoor de carrosserie pas 3 jaar na de feitelijke productie mocht worden aangepast. Het was dus allemaal voorbij voor deze 308's, die dateerden uit de late jaren 1970! Er was ook het verlies van een sponsorpakket. De auto bevindt zich sinds 1995 in een priv\u00e9collectie. Tijdens een nationale meeting van de Ferrari Club of America op Summit Point Raceway versloeg een van de auto's de beste ingeschreven F40 met 2,9 seconden!
