De auto werd gepresenteerd op de wereldtentoonstelling van Montreal in 1967, vandaar de naam, en was bedoeld om een prestigemodel te herintroduceren in het Biscione-gamma. Giuseppe Busso legde uit dat om budgettaire redenen werd afgezien van het oorspronkelijk geplande specifieke chassis en Alfa Romeo terugviel op het chassis van de bestaande Bertone GTV 2000 coup\u00e9. Deze verandering leidde tot moeilijke technische ontwikkelingen, met name het aanpassen van de vorm van het prototype aan dit chassis, met als resultaat dat de productieversie pas in 1971 arriveerde, vier jaar na de show!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/alfa-romeo-montreal-1970.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-41242\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/alfa-romeo-montreal-1970.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/alfa-romeo-montreal-1970-420x280.jpg 420w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/alfa-romeo-montreal-1970-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/alfa-romeo-montreal-1970-18x12.jpg 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Alfa Romeo Monreal in 1970<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>De keuze voor de V8-motor van de Alfa 33 maakte de zaak er niet eenvoudiger op, want de prototypes waren ontworpen met de viercilindermotor met dubbele bovenliggende nokkenas van de Giulia. Maar het management besloot dat een V8-motor prestigieuzer was. De motor moest in dit GTV coup\u00e9chassis passen, wat betekende dat de hele gordellijn omhoog moest, net als de integratie van de sterk gebogen zijruiten. De korte wielbasis van de GTV resulteerde in een langere Montreal coup\u00e9 met grotere overhangen dan verwacht, wat voor ontevreden puristen de gewichtsbalans en aerodynamische vloeiendheid van de auto veranderde.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"732\" src=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/alfa-romeo-montreal-oroginal.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-41240\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/alfa-romeo-montreal-oroginal.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/alfa-romeo-montreal-oroginal-420x256.jpg 420w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/alfa-romeo-montreal-oroginal-768x468.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/alfa-romeo-montreal-oroginal-18x12.jpg 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>De motor was een 90\u00b0 V8 met vier bovenliggende nokkenassen en 200 pk, afgeleid van de 2-liter V8 van de Alfa 33 racewagen, opnieuw geboord om de cilinderinhoud te vergroten tot 2.593 cm3 met Spica mechanische injectie (wat voor veel problemen zorgde!), allemaal gekoppeld aan een handgeschakelde ZF 5-versnellingsbak. Het chassis was gebaseerd op een verouderd ontwerp, de gewichtsverdeling, die duidelijk naar voren lag vanwege de grote V8, zorgde ervoor dat hij onderstuurde en niet wendbaar genoeg was, terwijl het remsysteem een beetje licht bleek te zijn. Dit heeft de Montreal ongetwijfeld gedoemd tot een korte carri\u00e8re in de competitie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">De Alfa Romeo Montreal, door OKTech!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/alfa-montreal-v8-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-41235\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/alfa-montreal-v8-1.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/alfa-montreal-v8-1-420x280.jpg 420w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/alfa-montreal-v8-1-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/alfa-montreal-v8-1-18x12.jpg 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Degenen die de moed en de middelen hebben om dit te doen, zijn zelfs begonnen met aanpassingen aan Montreal om het meer in overeenstemming te brengen met de geest van het oorspronkelijke project. Een van hen is OKTech, waar we het onlangs over hadden. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/nl\/alfa-romeo\/deze-alfa-romeo-75-wordt-aangedreven-door-een-v6-busso-met-500-pk-bij-9000-tpm-de-krachtigste-ter-wereld\/\">de Alfa Romeo 75 Busso en Bialbero met supercharger<\/a>. Zijn naam? Montreal \"Flatplane\"? Wat betekent dat? De naam verwijst naar substanti\u00eble wijzigingen aan de motor, die nog steeds een V8 is, maar deze keer is de cilinderinhoud vergroot tot 3,3 liter. Deze configuratie, die veel werd gebruikt in V8-auto's voor de weg, had het voordeel dat de motor soepeler en dagelijks bruikbaarder was dan een V8 met een vlakke krukas, een technische oplossing die ook werd gebruikt in de V8 van de 33. Met deze 3,3-liter vlakke krukas is de cirkel dus rond en krijgt de Montreal een motor met een racegevoel! Volgens de laatste cijfers van OKtech op zijn sociale netwerksite bedraagt het vermogen 350 pk, met een topsnelheid van 9000 tpm.
