Lotus en de andere Britse fabrikanten waren het meest gedurfd op het gebied van chassis en aerodynamisch ontwerp (de achterste middenmotorarchitectuur, winglets, pontons, etc. werden door hen ge\u00efntroduceerd), terwijl Ferrari, conservatiever op dit gebied, compenseerde met haar knowhow op het gebied van motoren. Ferrari stak de draak met deze Britse ambachtslieden, die het minachtend 'garagistes' noemde, ook al had het de status van een volwaardig fabrikant. Colin Chapman, in 1982, en daarna Enzo Ferrari, in 1988, lieten een enorme leegte achter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Als <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/nl\/ferrari\/ferrari-verdient-steeds-meer-geld-voor-elke-verkochte-auto-en-zou-in-2025-een-nieuw-record-kunnen-vestigen\/\">Ferrari vestigt nieuwe verkooprecords<\/a>Terwijl Lotus zijn portie populariteits- en rentabiliteitscrises heeft gehad, heeft het diepere existenti\u00eble crises gehad en probeert het zichzelf nu opnieuw uit te vinden door middel van elektrische energie. In Zuid-Afrika werd een hybride voertuig tussen de twee merken ontwikkeld: je vraagt je af wat de reactie van de twee heilige monsters op zo'n creatie zou zijn geweest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hillclimbing is een favoriete speeltuin voor tovenaars en in sommige categorie\u00ebn is er een grote vrijheid om je mechanisch uit te leven. Het meest voor de hand liggende voorbeeld hiervan is de praktijk van 'swapping', d.w.z. het simpelweg verwisselen van de motor van de basisauto, zoals we onlangs zagen bij <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/nl\/alfa-romeo\/twee-alfa-romeo-4c-met-670-pk-en-700-pk-gaan-kop-aan-kop-voor-de-overwinning-in-italie\/\">de 700 pk Alfa Romeo 4C Picchio<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Een motor die een tweede leven krijgt<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Dawie Joubert begon zijn autosportcarri\u00e8re op de dragstrip, daarna in Groep N van het Zuid-Afrikaanse Productiewagenkampioenschap. In 2001 kocht hij zijn eerste Lotus: een Elise Motorsport, die hij begon om te bouwen. Zijn nieuwe prototype op basis van de Exige werd oorspronkelijk aangedreven door Honda, maar in 2020 crashte een Ferrari 488 op Kyalami en deed zich de kans voor om de motor te bergen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/ferrari-lotus-V8.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-40552\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/ferrari-lotus-V8.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/ferrari-lotus-V8-420x280.jpg 420w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/ferrari-lotus-V8-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/ferrari-lotus-V8-18x12.jpg 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Foto Stefan Kotz\u00e9 voor SpeedHunters<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Deze Exige racewagen heeft zijn originele Toyota 4-cilinder motor (die niet eens de originele was) ingeruild voor een 3,9-liter Ferrari F154 twin-turbo V8, afgeleid van de Ferrari F488 GTB en gekoppeld aan een sequenti\u00eble zesversnellingsbak. In de fabrieksversie levert de twin-turbo V8 661 pk bij 8.000 tpm en 760 Nm bij 3.000 tpm. De motor krijgt hier een upgrade dankzij enkele wijzigingen aan de IHI-turboladers, een op maat gemaakte warmtewisselaar en een herzien management: hij zou 765 pk ontwikkelen in 2022 en 870 pk in 2023. Zoals altijd is de achtervleugel het meest extreme onderdeel. Hij won zijn categorie en eindigde als 2e algemeen, slechts 1 seconde van de tijd van een eenzitter.
