De afgelopen tien jaar heeft de industrie zich echter vooral gericht op het optimaliseren van de resultaten in het laboratorium (NEDC), vaak ten koste van de prestaties op de weg. De overgang naar de WLTP-homologatiecyclus in 2017 en de strengere emissiedoelstellingen die in 2020 zijn ingevoerd, hebben eindelijk tot een aanzienlijke verbetering geleid. De emissies van dieselmotoren zijn echter stabiel gebleven, terwijl die van benzinemotoren slechts met 4,6 % zijn gedaald. <strong>De vooruitgang in motoreffici\u00ebntie werd tenietgedaan door een toename in voertuigmassa en vermogen.<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Om de CO2-uitstoot te verminderen, benadrukt de Europese Rekenkamer<strong> de elektrische auto, die te maken heeft met een aantal grote obstakels.<\/strong> Ten eerste is Europa afhankelijk van batterijen die uit Azi\u00eb worden ge\u00efmporteerd, een probleem dat vraagt om een strategie om de lokale productie te stimuleren. Aangezien elektrische voertuigen gemiddeld duurder zijn dan verbrandingsmodellen, zou dit inwoners van deze landen kunnen aanmoedigen om <strong>hun auto's met verbrandingsmotor langer houden<\/strong>.
