Il percorso \u00e8 lungo circa 8,4 km e comprende pi\u00f9 di venti curve, alternando tratti veloci, sequenze tecniche e tornanti stretti. L'evento \u00e8 una prova a tempo: le prestazioni dipendono tanto dalla potenza quanto dalla trazione, dal bilanciamento del telaio e dal coraggio del pilota di fronte a sezioni strette e prive di grandi spazi liberi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nel corso degli anni, l'evento \u00e8 diventato un punto di riferimento a livello regionale, attirando sia auto moderne ad altissime prestazioni che auto sportive classiche pesantemente modificate. Nel 2023, la vincitrice \u00e8 stata la Pininfarina Battista.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">L'amore per la Ferrari<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Bill Pound \u00e8 un appassionato e preparatore di Ferrari coinvolto nella Virginia City HillClimb. La sua esperienza nelle corse risale agli anni '80, quando era capo equipaggio e lavorava su Ferrari preparate da Michelotto e iscritte all'IMSA. La sua esperienza tecnica, unita al suo coinvolgimento nei club automobilistici (in particolare il Ferrari Owners Club), lo ha portato a immaginare una Ferrari 308 radicalmente trasformata per le cronoscalate.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La base di questo progetto \u00e8 un <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/it\/auto\/ferrari-308\/\">Ferrari 308 GTS<\/a> 1982, con numero di telaio #40675. La Ferrari, stella della Magnum, fu lanciata nella sua versione disaccoppiata nel settembre 1977, al salone I.A.A. di Francoforte, per colmare il vuoto lasciato tre anni prima dalla scomparsa della 246 GTS. La GTS differiva meccanicamente dalle GTB, con la lubrificazione a carter umido e due distributori di accensione al posto di uno.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Raddoppia la potenza<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Fu intorno al 1986 che Bill Pound intraprese questa preparazione, con l'obiettivo di creare una macchina in grado di competere con vetture da cronoscalata molto pi\u00f9 moderne. Il motore \u00e8 il famoso V8 3.0L 16 valvole a 90\u00b0 F106AB, ampiamente modificato con l'installazione di un compressore volumetrico B&amp;M, l'iniezione meccanica Hilborn e l'alimentazione a metanolo in stile Indycar. La potenza stimata \u00e8 compresa tra 450 e 480 CV (o anche di pi\u00f9, secondo alcune stime non ufficiali), quasi il doppio rispetto alla 308 originale, che raggiungeva un picco di 255 CV. L'obiettivo \u00e8 stato quello di ottenere un comportamento incisivo e <a>una forte capacit\u00e0<\/a> accelerazione in uscita dai tornanti. In particolare, fu testata a Willow Springs. Il progetto rimase principalmente sperimentale e dimostrativo. La 308 GTS Hillclimb Special rappresenta un caso atipico nel mondo Ferrari: non si tratta di un modello di fabbrica n\u00e9 di una serie limitata, ma di un progetto privato che ha portato molto lontano la preparazione di una berlina classica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tuttavia, non \u00e8 facile rivendere una Ferrari modificata: l'annuncio abbastanza recente visto sul sito Ferrari Online elencava la 308 GTS Speciale a un prezzo di soli 34.950 $!
