Nel 1968 fond\u00f2 l'Italdesign, uno studio di design che avrebbe ridefinito l'automobile moderna. Il suo primo grande progetto sotto questa nuova insegna? Giugiaro prese il telaio n. 750.33.116 da questa civilissima auto da corsa, la Tipo 33\/2 Stradale, e lo trasform\u00f2 in un concept rotabile. Un motore da 230 CV a 8.000 giri\/min, capace di portare questa coup\u00e9 ultraleggera di 700 kg a velocit\u00e0 superiori a 260 km\/h. In seguito, per ragioni di affidabilit\u00e0, questo blocco fu sostituito dal V8 da 2,6 litri della futura Alfa Montreal, che produceva comunque 200 CV. In questo caso, Giugiaro osa utilizzare linee spigolose e tese, sempre equilibrate. Con il suo spoiler regolabile elettricamente, i finestrini avvolgenti e i montanti cromati, l'Iguana combinava prestazioni e fantascienza molto prima del tempo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oggi, l'unico esemplare dell'Alfa Romeo Iguana riposa nel Museo Storico Alfa Romeo, a testimonianza di un'epoca in cui il design italiano osava tutto.
