Restaurar un <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/es\/coches\/ferrari-512\/\">Ferrari 512 BBi<\/a> abandonado, motor desmontado, carrocer\u00eda en construcci\u00f3n y piezas raras por encontrar, eso ya es otra cosa. Pero en esta \u00faltima etapa del proyecto del famoso Youtuber <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/es\/etiqueta\/ratarossa\/\">Ratarossa<\/a>, El problema no era una rotura misteriosa ni un defecto oculto descubierto tras el desmontaje. Proviene de un error simple, casi banal, que el propio propietario admite: haber guardado mal el motor V12. Y en un Ferrari 512 BBi, este tipo de error puede suponer r\u00e1pidamente una factura de varios miles de euros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Un V12 que nunca ha vuelto a arrancar desde el rescate<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Cuando se recuper\u00f3 este Ferrari 512 BBi abandonado, estaba pr\u00e1cticamente abandonado en un camino de entrada. Desde su llegada al taller, su motor nunca volvi\u00f3 a la vida. No giraba, no arrancaba, pero no se bloqueaba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/512-abandonnee.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-49877\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/512-abandonnee.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/512-abandonnee-420x280.jpg 420w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/512-abandonnee-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/512-abandonnee-18x12.jpg 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>R\u00e1pidamente se tom\u00f3 la decisi\u00f3n de desmontar el motor. Una primera inspecci\u00f3n revel\u00f3 algo preocupante: el cilindro n\u00famero 12 parec\u00eda estar mucho m\u00e1s sucio que los otros once. Esto suger\u00eda un problema con la junta de culata o, como m\u00ednimo, un fallo localizado en esta parte del V12.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/ferrari-512-moteur-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-49878\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/ferrari-512-moteur-2.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/ferrari-512-moteur-2-420x280.jpg 420w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/ferrari-512-moteur-2-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/ferrari-512-moteur-2-18x12.jpg 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Hasta aqu\u00ed, nada insuperable en una restauraci\u00f3n de esta envergadura. Incluso se hab\u00eda limpiado el motor mediante criogenizaci\u00f3n, lo que le daba un aspecto muy limpio. Pero fue despu\u00e9s de esta etapa cuando empezaron los problemas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">El error: dejar el motor en marcha en un taller fr\u00edo<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Tras desmontar las dos culatas, el motor se dej\u00f3 sobre un pal\u00e9, simplemente tapado. Las culatas se colocaron en un estante con un poco de film de pl\u00e1stico. Pero en retrospectiva, el propietario admite que fue un gran error. Las camisas de los cilindros, expuestas a la humedad y las variaciones de temperatura, empezaron a oxidarse. Y no s\u00f3lo en el cilindro 12: las dos bancadas del motor se vieron afectadas. El verdadero peligro no es el \u00f3xido superficial. Son las picaduras. Si la corrosi\u00f3n ha atacado el material en profundidad, las camisas podr\u00edan ser irreparables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/moteur-v12-ferrari-512.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-49882\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/moteur-v12-ferrari-512.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/moteur-v12-ferrari-512-420x280.jpg 420w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/moteur-v12-ferrari-512-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/moteur-v12-ferrari-512-18x12.jpg 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Diagn\u00f3stico a distancia por un especialista<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Para comprobarlo, desmont\u00f3 la culata del lado derecho y film\u00f3 el estado de los cilindros. La impresi\u00f3n visual es preocupante: las camisas est\u00e1n oxidadas, algunas zonas parecen marcadas y el cilindro n\u00famero 12 permanece especialmente sucio. La culata tambi\u00e9n mostraba signos de oxidaci\u00f3n alrededor de algunas v\u00e1lvulas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/moteur-v12-512.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-49883\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/moteur-v12-512.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/moteur-v12-512-420x280.jpg 420w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/moteur-v12-512-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/moteur-v12-512-18x12.jpg 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Las im\u00e1genes se enviaron a David Moore Engineering, que ya hab\u00eda participado en la reconstrucci\u00f3n de otro motor Ferrari. La respuesta del especialista fue sencilla: hab\u00eda que desmontar las camisas, desmontar completamente el motor e inspeccionarlo a fondo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tambi\u00e9n explica lo que deber\u00eda haberse hecho desde el principio: engrasar las superficies o, como m\u00ednimo, protegerlas con WD-40, para evitar que se asiente la humedad. En un taller fr\u00edo, el simple hecho de encender la calefacci\u00f3n puede provocar condensaci\u00f3n en el metal. Y esta condensaci\u00f3n basta para crear \u00f3xido. El especialista no condena inmediatamente el motor. Queda una posibilidad: que el \u00f3xido sea s\u00f3lo superficial. En este caso, tal vez se puedan recuperar las camisas despu\u00e9s de limpiarlas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Un error costoso<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>El precio de una camisa de cilindro para un Ferrari BB\/BBi da una idea inmediata de la magnitud del problema: unas 493 libras cada una, impuestos excluidos. Multiplicado por doce, el coste supera ya las 7.000 libras (8.000 euros o 9.500 d\u00f3lares) s\u00f3lo por las camisas. Y eso sin contar la mano de obra, las inspecciones, los posibles pistones, el mecanizado y el montaje completo del V12.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/ferrari-512-cylindre.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-49876\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/ferrari-512-cylindre.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/ferrari-512-cylindre-420x280.jpg 420w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/ferrari-512-cylindre-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/ferrari-512-cylindre-18x12.jpg 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>No obstante, el especialista contempla varias posibilidades. Si los pistones a\u00fan est\u00e1n dentro de la tolerancia y las camisas se pueden salvar, la factura seguir\u00e1 siendo contenida. Si las camisas est\u00e1n desgastadas pero se pueden salvar, es posible volver a taladrarlas con pistones adecuados.
