M\u00e1s de treinta a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s del Matta, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/es\/alfa-romeo\/\">Alfa Romeo<\/a> se introdujo en 1984 con el 33 4\u00d74, y en 1992 la denominaci\u00f3n Q4 fue adoptada oficialmente por todos los modelos. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/es\/coches\/alfa-romeo-33\/\">33<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/es\/coches\/alfa-romeo-155\/\">155<\/a> y <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/es\/coches\/alfa-romeo-164\/\">164<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pero otros han ideado soluciones m\u00e1s extremas. Es el caso de Mike Buckler, el afinador brit\u00e1nico con el que nos reunimos <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/es\/alfa-romeo\/alfa-romeo-habia-preparado-un-164-con-un-f1-v10-de-620-cv-pero-fue-la-version-de-produccion-la-que-finalmente-funciono-durante-30-anos\/\">sus 164 motores V6 y di\u00e9sel<\/a> en el Campeonato Brit\u00e1nico Alfa Romeo e Intermarques. El mismo tipo desarroll\u00f3 uno de los Alfa Romeo m\u00e1s extravagantes jam\u00e1s construidos: el Alfa Romeo 164 Bimotore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Precedentes hist\u00f3ricos<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>El concepto no es totalmente nuevo en la historia de la marca. Ya en los a\u00f1os 30, Alfa Romeo experiment\u00f3 con el principio del \u201cBimotore\u201d.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/es\/alfa-romeo\/alfa-romeo-bimotore-16-c-cuando-enzo-ferrari-quiso-responder-a-las-potentes-maquinas-alemanas-con-dos-8-cilindros-de-540-cv\/\">sobre el 16C de 1935<\/a>, Esto se consigui\u00f3 montando dos motores (uno delante y otro detr\u00e1s) en un coche de competici\u00f3n dise\u00f1ado para batir r\u00e9cords de velocidad. A finales de los 70 y principios de los 80, Wainer hab\u00eda dise\u00f1ado un prototipo con id\u00e9ntica filosof\u00eda, con un <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/es\/alfa-romeo\/alfasud-wainer-bimotore-cuando-alfa-romeo-imagino-un-todocamino-con-dos-motores\/\">Alfasud Bimotore<\/a>. En la versi\u00f3n Bimotore, el primer V6 permanece en su lugar original, impulsando las ruedas delanteras, mientras que un segundo bloque id\u00e9ntico se instala en la parte trasera, en el lugar del maletero y del asiento corrido. Cada motor tiene su propia caja de cambios, sistema de refrigeraci\u00f3n y gesti\u00f3n electr\u00f3nica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Un sistema complejo<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Esta arquitectura da lugar a una forma de tracci\u00f3n total sin enlace mec\u00e1nico central: el motor delantero acciona el eje delantero, el motor trasero acciona el eje trasero. Todo el sistema funciona mediante la sincronizaci\u00f3n de los controles del acelerador y la transmisi\u00f3n, de modo que se alojan dos cadenas cinem\u00e1ticas en una sola carcasa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los aceleradores est\u00e1n sujetos entre s\u00ed, al igual que los embragues. Las cajas de cambios est\u00e1n unidas por un varillaje que puede dividirse retirando un pasador que las mantiene unidas, lo que permite a Mike volver a un solo motor, con tracci\u00f3n delantera \u00fanicamente. Para gestionar la refrigeraci\u00f3n del segundo motor, se instalaron un radiador y un ventilador en el maletero, con las correspondientes rejillas de ventilaci\u00f3n cortadas en la tapa. El funcionamiento simult\u00e1neo de dos motores, dos embragues y dos cajas de cambios requiere una puesta a punto extremadamente delicada. La m\u00e1s m\u00ednima diferencia de revoluciones entre el motor delantero y el trasero puede someter a la transmisi\u00f3n a una enorme tensi\u00f3n y desequilibrar el coche. Este sistema sigue siendo dif\u00edcil de hacer fiable y muy costoso de utilizar en competici\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Muchos caballos, pero tambi\u00e9n mucho peso<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>La potencia total se estimaba entre 380 y 420 CV, el doble que la de un Alfa Romeo 164 V6 de serie. Las estimaciones sugieren un tiempo de 0 a 100 km\/h inferior a 5 segundos y una velocidad m\u00e1xima superior a 250 km\/h, cifras dignas de los prestigiosos deportivos de la \u00e9poca. Pero toda esta potencia ten\u00eda un precio. La instalaci\u00f3n del segundo motor requiri\u00f3 modificaciones de gran calado, como la eliminaci\u00f3n del habit\u00e1culo trasero, refuerzos estructurales, suspensiones adaptadas y una compleja gesti\u00f3n t\u00e9rmica. Como era de esperar, el peso aumenta hasta los 1.600 o 1.700 kg, lo que reduce parte de los beneficios obtenidos con la potencia extra. Esto, por supuesto, es el inevitable quebradero de cabeza de una soluci\u00f3n bimotor. Esto es lo que dijeron algunos de los pasajeros que tuvieron la oportunidad de subir a bordo en una demostraci\u00f3n en un rally posterior: \u00abSubimos a bordo del Bimotore 164 de 6,0 litros pilotado por Mark Tozer. Mi hijo de 21 a\u00f1os, Darren, fue la primera persona en subirse al asiento del acompa\u00f1ante y, despu\u00e9s de unos 16 kil\u00f3metros, sali\u00f3 riendo pero tambi\u00e9n flipando, blanco como un fantasma y conmocionado... Le dijeron que este coche hab\u00eda hecho el 0-100 en menos de cuatro segundos\u201d.
