Con m\u00e1s de 60 a\u00f1os, el Ferrari 250 GTO sigue siendo no s\u00f3lo una referencia absoluta, sino tambi\u00e9n el coche m\u00e1s codiciado del planeta. La reciente venta de uno por <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/es\/ferrari\/el-nuevo-propietario-del-ferrari-250-gto-vendido-por-38-millones-ha-revelado-su-identidad-se-trata-del-famoso-coleccionista-de-verduras-ketchup-mostaza\/\">38,5 millones de euros<\/a> es otro brillante ejemplo de ello. Pero \u00bfpor qu\u00e9 este <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/es\/ferrari\/\">Ferrari<\/a> \u00bfAlcanza tales sumas? La respuesta est\u00e1 tanto en su historia como en lo que representa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pensar ante todo en las carreras<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Presentado oficialmente en febrero de 1962 en la tradicional conferencia de prensa de pretemporada de Ferrari en Maranello, el 250 GTO (por Gran Turismo Omologato) nunca fue simplemente un coche de carretera. Aunque estaba homologado para su uso legal, se dise\u00f1\u00f3 ante todo como un arma de competici\u00f3n para la categor\u00eda GT del campeonato de la FIA. En una \u00e9poca en la que la l\u00ednea entre un coche de carreras y un coche civil era a\u00fan difusa, el GTO encarnaba el enfoque m\u00e1s radical de Ferrari: vender a unos pocos clientes selectos un coche que estaba pr\u00e1cticamente listo para competir. Bajo la direcci\u00f3n inicial del ingeniero Giotto Bizzarrini, y posteriormente de Mauro Forghieri tras su tormentosa marcha a ra\u00edz de un desacuerdo con Enzo Ferrari, el proyecto adquiri\u00f3 una dimensi\u00f3n casi obsesiva. De la primera serie se fabricaron 33, seguidos de tres versiones de la \"Serie II\" con carrocer\u00eda modificada. En aquella \u00e9poca, costaban unos 18.500 d\u00f3lares, una suma colosal para un GT. Pero el dinero no era suficiente. Enzo Ferrari examinaba personalmente a todos los compradores potenciales y se negaba a vender sus GTO a clientes considerados inadecuados. Esta dr\u00e1stica selecci\u00f3n explica un hecho casi \u00fanico en la historia del automovilismo: los 36 ejemplares producidos siguen existiendo hoy en d\u00eda. Todos corrieron, todos fueron usados, pero todos sobrevivieron. En las 12 Horas de Sebring de 1962, Phil Hill y Olivier Gendebien ganaron la categor\u00eda y terminaron segundos en la general, por delante de prototipos m\u00e1s ligeros y potentes. El mensaje estaba claro: Ferrari ten\u00eda una m\u00e1quina excepcional. Lo que sigui\u00f3 fue una sucesi\u00f3n de \u00e9xitos. Tres t\u00edtulos consecutivos en el Campeonato Internacional de Fabricantes GT de la FIA, victorias de clase y victorias generales en eventos legendarios como la Targa Florio, el Tour de France Automobile, los 1.000 km de N\u00fcrburgring, Goodwood y las 24 Horas de Le Mans. Dise\u00f1ado por Gioacchino Colombo en 1947, este motor acompa\u00f1\u00f3 el desarrollo de la marca durante m\u00e1s de una d\u00e9cada. Alcanz\u00f3 su apogeo en el 250 GTO. Con su cilindrada de 3,0 litros, sus seis carburadores Weber dobles, su \u00e1rbol de levas en cabeza y su notable fiabilidad, desarrollaba casi 300 CV, una cifra impresionante para su \u00e9poca. Pero m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de sus prestaciones, lo que impresionaba era su resistencia. Capaz de resistir carreras de 12 o 24 horas sin desfallecer, este V12 desempe\u00f1\u00f3 un papel directo en la leyenda del GTO. Su dise\u00f1o desempe\u00f1a un papel fundamental. Fruto de un exhaustivo trabajo aerodin\u00e1mico de Bizzarrini y Forghieri, potenciado por el talento del carrocero Sergio Scaglietti, el GTO combina eficiencia y elegancia como pocos coches en la historia. Sus proporciones, sus musculosos pasos de rueda, su largo cap\u00f3 y su compacta popa han sobrevivido a las d\u00e9cadas sin una sola arruga. Para muchos historiadores, dise\u00f1adores y entusiastas, es sencillamente uno de los coches m\u00e1s bellos jam\u00e1s dise\u00f1ados. Es una pieza importante de la historia del automovilismo, un objeto de arte y el s\u00edmbolo definitivo del poder econ\u00f3mico. Las sucesivas ventas, a veces por m\u00e1s de 50 millones de d\u00f3lares seg\u00fan la historia y el estado del chasis, han situado definitivamente al GTO en la cima del mercado. La reciente venta por 38,5 millones de d\u00f3lares de un ejemplar \u00fanico, nunca restaurado en profundidad y con una configuraci\u00f3n sin precedentes, no hace sino confirmar una tendencia que viene de lejos.
