Es una certeza que la marca de Maranello nunca ha desmentido, a pesar de d\u00e9cadas de rumores, fantas\u00edas y proyectos m\u00e1s o menos cre\u00edbles. Pero hay una excepci\u00f3n. S\u00f3lo una excepci\u00f3n. Una moto que, aunque no ha sido dise\u00f1ada por Ferrari, ha recibido la autorizaci\u00f3n oficial por escrito de la familia Ferrari para lucir el m\u00edtico Cavallino Rampante. Su nombre: Ferrari 900.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Una autorizaci\u00f3n \u00fanica firmada por Piero Ferrari<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>La historia comienza en 1990. Por aquel entonces, David Kay, un reputado ingeniero brit\u00e1nico y antiguo especialista de MV Agusta, tuvo una idea que hoy muchos considerar\u00edan imposible: crear una moto que rindiera homenaje a Enzo Ferrari, respetando el esp\u00edritu t\u00e9cnico y est\u00e9tico de Maranello. Pero Kay no quer\u00eda s\u00f3lo un gui\u00f1o. Quer\u00eda utilizar oficialmente el nombre Ferrari y el famoso Cavallino Rampante. Consciente de lo que estaba en juego, escribi\u00f3 directamente a Piero Ferrari, hijo de Enzo. Contra todo pron\u00f3stico, la respuesta fue positiva. En una carta fechada el 23 de mayo de 1990 y firmada por Piero Ferrari, David Kay recibi\u00f3 autorizaci\u00f3n por escrito para colocar el escudo de Ferrari en su moto. Hasta la fecha, ning\u00fan otro proyecto de dos ruedas se ha beneficiado de un acuerdo semejante. Esta carta convierte a la Ferrari 900 en un caso absolutamente \u00fanico en la historia de la marca.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/moto-ferrari-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-44412\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/moto-ferrari-1.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/moto-ferrari-1-420x280.jpg 420w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/moto-ferrari-1-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/moto-ferrari-1-18x12.jpg 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cuatro a\u00f1os de trabajo<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Una vez obtenida la autorizaci\u00f3n, David Kay se embarc\u00f3 en un proyecto de una envergadura poco com\u00fan. No se trataba de adaptar una moto existente, sino de dise\u00f1ar una m\u00e1quina completamente nueva, como si Ferrari hubiera decidido un d\u00eda fabricar una moto de gran turismo o de resistencia. La construcci\u00f3n llevar\u00e1 cuatro a\u00f1os y m\u00e1s de 3.000 horas de trabajo. Cada pieza se ha fabricado a medida y cada soluci\u00f3n t\u00e9cnica se ha desarrollado espec\u00edficamente para esta moto \u00fanica. El chasis tubular es de acero Reynolds 531, un material famoso por sus cualidades mec\u00e1nicas. La ingenier\u00eda se ha llevado a un nivel pocas veces visto en una moto construida a mano, con una obsesi\u00f3n por el detalle que recuerda los m\u00e9todos de fabricantes excepcionales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Motor dise\u00f1ado desde cero<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>El coraz\u00f3n del Ferrari 900 es un motor completamente nuevo. El propio David Kay dise\u00f1\u00f3 y construy\u00f3 un motor de cuatro cilindros en l\u00ednea de 900 cc refrigerado por aire, con dos \u00e1rboles de levas en cabeza y ocho v\u00e1lvulas. Los c\u00e1rteres eran de magnesio y aleaci\u00f3n ligera, con un esp\u00edritu muy cercano al de las carreras. El motor produc\u00eda 105 CV a 8.800 rpm, una cifra respetable para su \u00e9poca, especialmente para un motor totalmente artesanal. Combinado con una caja de cambios de cinco velocidades, este motor permitir\u00eda a la moto alcanzar una velocidad de unos 265 km\/h. Adopta muchas de las se\u00f1as de identidad de la marca italiana. El carenado delantero inclinado, la forma del dep\u00f3sito de combustible, las tomas de aire laterales inspiradas en la Testarossa y los faros traseros integrados recuerdan claramente a los Ferrari de los a\u00f1os 80 y 90. Fue presentado en numerosas publicaciones especializadas, expuesto en prestigiosos salones e incluso apareci\u00f3 en programas de televisi\u00f3n. Apareci\u00f3 en revistas de Jap\u00f3n, Italia, Alemania, Espa\u00f1a y Reino Unido, prueba del inter\u00e9s suscitado por esta extraordinaria creaci\u00f3n. En 2008, la moto se ofreci\u00f3 en subasta con una estimaci\u00f3n muy ambiciosa (unos 220.000 euros), pero no encontr\u00f3 comprador. Finalmente cambi\u00f3 de manos unos a\u00f1os m\u00e1s tarde por unas 80.000 libras, o algo m\u00e1s de 105.000 euros en aquel momento.
