El t\u00e9rmino \"chubasco\" hace referencia a una violenta r\u00e1faga de viento con truenos y rel\u00e1mpagos que se produce durante la temporada de lluvias a lo largo de la costa del Pac\u00edfico de M\u00e9xico, Centroam\u00e9rica y Sudam\u00e9rica. Diez a\u00f1os antes de Pagani y sus supercoches bautizados con nombres de vientos argentinos, un fabricante ya recurr\u00eda al poder imaginario de los elementos americanos: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/es\/maserati\/\">Maserati<\/a> present\u00f3 en 1990 un concept car que podr\u00eda haber sacudido <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/es\/ferrari\/\">Ferrari<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ambici\u00f3n<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>En los a\u00f1os 80, Maserati sobrevivi\u00f3 gracias a la buena acogida del Biturbo, pero al Tridente le faltaba un \"buque insignia\" que le permitiera elevar el nombre de M\u00f3dena a un nivel superior. En diciembre de 1990, con motivo del aniversario anual de la Casa, Maserati present\u00f3 tres nuevos modelos. La versi\u00f3n final del Shamal, lista para la producci\u00f3n, y el Racing, el nuevo coup\u00e9 de 2 litros y 285 CV. Pero la estrella del espect\u00e1culo fue un coche completamente nuevo, tanto est\u00e9tica como mec\u00e1nicamente, en comparaci\u00f3n con la gama Maserati existente. Presentado en su forma a\u00fan est\u00e1tica (maqueta), el producto acabado deb\u00eda desvelarse a principios de 1992, y sedujo por completo a los admiradores. Para lograr las prestaciones deseadas, se eligi\u00f3 el chasis de viga central por su excelente rigidez, gracias sobre todo a un motor montado en posici\u00f3n central trasera. Se dise\u00f1\u00f3 para dejar espacio a dos grandes conductos laterales para el paso y la distribuci\u00f3n del aire. El aspecto del Chubasco es a la vez agresivo y fluido, anticipando sorprendentemente el dise\u00f1o de ciertos conceptos el\u00e9ctricos e hiperdeportivos actuales. El dise\u00f1o mezcla h\u00e1bilmente trazos de la forma en cu\u00f1a tan apreciada por el maestro que dise\u00f1\u00f3 el Countach y el Diablo, pero con un agradable toque de curvas aerodin\u00e1micas y superficies limpias. Hay rasgos Lamborghini como el habit\u00e1culo piramidal y los pasos de rueda trapezoidales, pero casi se podr\u00eda anticipar el dise\u00f1o tecnofuturista de los \u00faltimos Ferrari F80 y 849.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"443\" src=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/maserati-chubasco-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-43842\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/maserati-chubasco-4.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/maserati-chubasco-4-420x155.jpg 420w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/maserati-chubasco-4-768x284.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/maserati-chubasco-4-18x7.jpg 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Las l\u00edneas del Chubasco est\u00e1n dictadas por la aerodin\u00e1mica. En la parte delantera, el flujo de aire es aspirado a trav\u00e9s de tres grandes tomas de aire frontales, luego es acelerado y descargado lateralmente bajo las puertas, creando una ca\u00edda de presi\u00f3n bajo los paneles laterales.  Todo ello acent\u00faa el efecto suelo producido por la rampa trasera y los bajos planos, de modo que el coche queda pegado al suelo. El gran aler\u00f3n trasero visto en bocetos anteriores no estaba presente en el concept car. El monocasco o carrocer\u00eda est\u00e1 idealmente dise\u00f1ado como una c\u00e9lula flotante conectada al chasis por soportes amortiguadores que absorben las vibraciones del motor, la transmisi\u00f3n, la suspensi\u00f3n y las ruedas, aislando el habit\u00e1culo del conductor de toda la gama de frecuencias de ruido, vibraci\u00f3n y torsi\u00f3n. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">FIAT echa el freno<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>El \u00faltimo detalle es el techo solar el\u00e9ctrico, que se puede desplazar hacia atr\u00e1s sobre el compartimento del motor para conducir a cielo abierto (o refrescarse, por si acaso). El plan era utilizar el V8 biturbo de 3,2 litros del Shamal, potenciado a 430 CV, con potencia transmitida a las ruedas traseras a trav\u00e9s de una caja de cambios manual de seis velocidades y un diferencial de deslizamiento limitado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Maserati Chubasco \" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/OUIaeH3SSSU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>La intenci\u00f3n inicial era producir 450 coches a partir de 1992, pero en el espacio de dos a\u00f1os, el contexto pol\u00edtico hab\u00eda cambiado por completo. El estallido de la burbuja econ\u00f3mica paraliz\u00f3 el frenes\u00ed de los supercoches. Fiat, que se hab\u00eda convertido en accionista mayoritario de Maserati, juzg\u00f3 el proyecto demasiado cercano a Ferrari y presion\u00f3 para que se abandonara, ya que era demasiado costoso. Como resultado, el Chubasco se qued\u00f3 en una maqueta, expuesta en el Museo Panini de las afueras de M\u00f3dena. Sin embargo, el proyecto sirvi\u00f3 de base para el Maserati Barchetta, construido como parte del campeonato de dise\u00f1o \u00fanico en 1992-1993.
