In 1998, Fabrizio Giugiaro sketched the first lines of what would become one of the Lamborghini<\/a> the most popular in history. Twenty-eight years later, the Italian designer revisits his creation with a modern interpretation, dubbed Hommage 26. A supercar produced in a limited run of just 25 units, featuring a naturally aspirated V10 engine, a manual transmission, and a particularly high price tag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unveiled on October 31, 2026, at the Concours at Wynn Las Vegas, the Hommage 26 is the first creation by CAV\u00cbN Atelier, a new company offering an original concept: allowing automotive designers to reimagine their own creations, several decades after they were first designed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To kick off this series, the company enlisted Fabrizio Giugiaro, who worked on the design of the Lamborghini Gallardo<\/a> as early as 1998, when he was at Italdesign. The car was finally released in 2003 and went on to become a huge success for the Italian brand, with more than 14,000 units produced through 2013.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For this project, carried out in collaboration with GFG Style, Fabrizio Giugiaro did not set out to radically transform the Gallardo. Rather, the goal was to imagine what it might have become without the industrial and technical constraints of the time.<\/strong> The result retains the characteristic proportions of the Italian supercar, but nearly the entire body has been redesigned. Only a few original parts remain, including the roof, the side windows, the windshield, and the side mirrors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everything else features a new carbon-fiber body. The front end notably features headlights that retract downward, while the rear boasts a brand-new design, with active aerodynamic elements and an opening window above the engine compartment. The car remains instantly recognizable as a Gallardo, but with modernized lines and certain details that likely would never have made it onto the production model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Still the naturally aspirated V10 engine and a manual transmission<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Beneath this new bodywork, the Hommage 26 retains what made the original Gallardo so appealing: its naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V10 engine. Reworked by Italtecnica (which needs no introduction), the engine can now reach 8,500 rpm. Two configurations have been announced: a GT version producing 540 ch and a Performance version boosted to 560 ch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Power is transmitted through a manual gearbox with an exposed shift gate\u2014a choice that should appeal to fans of traditional driving. The chassis also features a new suspension system with two settings\u2014Comfort and Sport\u2014along with upgraded brakes and 20-inch wheels. With a maximum output of 560 ch, this Hommage 26 is actually no more powerful than some production Gallardos, notably the LP 570-4 Superleggera with its 570 ch. But the pursuit of absolute performance is clearly not the priority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is probably the most surprising aspect of this project. CAV\u00cbN Atelier announces a starting price of 900 000 \u20ac<\/strong>, plus the cost of a first-generation Lamborghini Gallardo, which serves as the basis for the conversion. Each customer can provide their own car or ask the shop to find one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Only 25 units will be produced, which partly explains its highly exclusive positioning. At this price point, buyers are not just paying for mechanical and aesthetic modifications, but also for the opportunity to own a Lamborghini reimagined by its original designer. It remains to be seen whether this signature and this rarity will be enough to justify an investment well over one million euros once the donor car is factored in. One thing is certain: 28 years after his first sketches, Fabrizio Giugiaro proves that the Gallardo has not yet written its final chapter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
