Lando Norris and his Ferrari F40 are back. The McLaren driver was recently spotted on the streets of London behind the wheel of his car, several months after the accident (in which he was not driving) that had gone viral on social media. This appearance also brings some good news: the F40 has indeed been repaired and is back on the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This announcement comes at just the right time. Because just a few days ago, another Formula 1 driver joined the already impressive ranks of Ferrari F40 owners: Lewis Hamilton. The seven-time world champion has just taken delivery of a copy with an exceptional history<\/a>, which had been out of action for more than thirty years before being restored in Maranello. But long before Hamilton and Norris, the F40 had already captivated several big names in Formula 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Mansell to Prost, the F40 was practically a company car at Ferrari<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Introduced in 1987 to mark the 40th anniversary of Ferrari<\/a>the F40<\/a> It quickly became much more than just a supercar. With its 2.9-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 478 ch, its lack of electronic aids, and its claimed top speed of 324 km\/h, it was the most radical Ferrari of its era.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nigel Mansell is one of the drivers most closely associated with the model. While racing for Scuderia, the British driver received an F40 from Enzo Ferrari. That car has since become a highly sought-after collector\u2019s item.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alain Prost also owned one. Chassis 83249 was delivered to him brand-new in late 1989, when he joined Ferrari. Registered in France and then quickly resold, this \u00abex-Prost\u00bb F40 has regularly resurfaced at auctions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gerhard Berger and Jean Alesi round out this impressive generation of Ferrari drivers who owned F40s. Alesi, in particular, sold his to help finance his son Giuliano\u2019s career in Formula 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alonso, Massa, Button\u2026 the F40 spans generations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The fascination didn\u2019t end with the Ferrari drivers of the 1980s and 1990s. Felipe Massa has been spotted several times driving an F40 in Monaco. Jenson Button also owned one, as did Sebastian Vettel, whose personal collection included several models from Maranello. Fernando Alonso joined this group more recently. In late 2025, the two-time world champion was filmed behind the wheel of an F40 on the streets of Monaco. It was quite a delightful sight, given that the Spaniard was racing for Aston Martin at the time, while continuing to display an obvious passion for Ferrari road cars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lando Norris is back behind the wheel of his F40<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Lando Norris had also been the talk of the town with his F40 in early 2025, but for a less pleasant reason. The car, which he had lent to a friend, ended up against a guardrail after spinning out on a winding road. Lando Norris was not behind the wheel. His recent appearance in London now brings this episode to a close: his F40 has been repaired and is back on the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And so another name has just been added to the list. Lewis Hamilton now owns his very own F40\u2014a car he\u2019s dreamed of since childhood. In January 2025, for his very first official photo shoot at Ferrari, he had actually asked to pose next to an F40 in front of the Ferrari headquarters. In September 2026, he arrived at Monza with his own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mansell, Prost, Berger, Alesi, Massa, Button, Vettel, Alonso, Norris, and now Hamilton: nearly forty years after its debut, the Ferrari F40 continues to serve as a remarkable link between several generations of Formula 1 drivers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
