The story began with a sale that was interrupted and an intervention by Maserati<\/a>. Six months later, the very first Maserati MCXtrema delivered to a private customer returned to exactly where it had disappeared: on Bring a Trailer<\/em>. This time, the auction went all the way, with a final bid of $805,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, this outcome warrants some clarification: the reserve price was not met. The platform therefore officially displays \u00abReserve Not Met.\u00bb But the message posted by the seller immediately after the sale clearly leaves the door open for a transaction with the highest bidder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Six months after the canceled auction<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This MCXtrema<\/a> is definitely not a Maserati like any other. It is the first of the 62 planned units to have been sold to a private customer. Tested at Laguna Seca in August 2024 by development driver Andrea Bertolini, it was then handed over to its owner during Monterey Car Week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In January 2026, the car took everyone by surprise by appearing on Bring a Trailer<\/a>. Bids had already reached $751,000 when the listing was withdrawn. We explained at the time that Maserati had cited contractual obligations related to the MCXtrema program. The owner himself confirmed that he had withdrawn the listing after realizing that the period during which the transfer of ownership was restricted had not yet ended. This time, there were no obstacles: in the new listing, the seller explicitly stated that the restriction period had expired and that ownership could now be transferred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

$805,000\u2026 but the target was not met<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The second auction ended on August 20, 2026, after 52 bids. The final bid was $805,000\u2014$54,000 more than during the first, aborted auction. However, this amount was not enough to meet the reserve price set by the seller. Technically, therefore, Bring a Trailer cannot list the car as \u00absold\u00bb at the end of the auction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the story might well end differently. Moments after the auction closed, the seller thanked the participants before adding a particularly interesting remark: \u00abWe will reach out to the high bidder!\u00bb In other words, he plans to contact the highest bidder. Everything suggests, therefore, that a private negotiation is now possible around the proposed $805,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A clearer market value<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The price is all the more attractive given that this MCXtrema comes with over $65,000 in options and has only 228 kilometers on the odometer, all of which were driven exclusively on the track. Its 3.0-liter twin-turbo Nettuno V6 engine produces 730 ch, paired with a six-speed sequential transmission, while its monocoque chassis and body make extensive use of carbon fiber.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Above all, here\u2019s a valuable piece of information for collectors: after two auction appearances, the market now appears to value this first model at around $800,000 (which is already quite high, in our opinion), whereas the MCXtrema was originally priced at around 900,000 euros, excluding taxes and options. The only question now is whether the $805,000 offered will ultimately be enough for the owner to finally move on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
