Buy the Lamborghini<\/a> giving up on one's dreams is rarely a reasonable decision. But when it comes to a Murci\u00e9lago<\/a> A 2002 model with a manual transmission\u2014which was in an accident nearly twenty years ago and has been off the road for almost six years\u2014this project seems more like a gamble. Yet that\u2019s exactly what Will, from the YouTube channel Two Dead Center, did. On paper, however, this particular car had some serious selling points. This configuration is particularly sought after today. But behind these appealing specs lay a story that was far less reassuring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although the video\u2019s creator didn\u2019t specify the price of the Lamborghini, we found the listing for it! The car was auctioned at Bonhams in Goodwood in April 2026, with no reserve price. Its history did indeed mention an accident in 2007. The Murci\u00e9lago had just undergone extensive maintenance. In March 2026, just a few weeks before the sale, no less than \u20ac30,000 had been spent on a major service, including the replacement of the fuel tank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The inspection gets off to a bad start<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Before the mechanics could even examine the car, the first problem arose: it wouldn't start. The remote control for the Clifford immobilizer had been damaged, and the Lamborghini Murci\u00e9lago had to be pushed into the shop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, not everything is perfect. The system used to raise the front end is leaking at a shock absorber\u2014a problem that\u2019s fairly common on Murci\u00e9lagos. The engine mounts are also sagging. But even a part as common as this already costs more than \u20ac350 each. There are also a few oil stains, the exhaust system is worn, and certain details reveal some rather clumsy repairs, such as a brake pad wear sensor attached to the wiring harness. But at this stage, nothing resembles the mechanical disaster one might have feared from a Lamborghini that had been out of service for so long.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The First Few Kilometers to Discover the Truth<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Rather than taking it straight to the repair shop, Will then chose the best way to uncover the flaws in an old supercar: driving it. A lot. In one week, he covers about 500 to 600 miles\u2014or between 800 and 965 km\u2014by driving his new Lamborghini every day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s when the problems really start to surface. The car sometimes refuses to start. Its V12 engine occasionally begins to misfire violently. During one trip, Will has to pull over five or six times. The engine backfires, a warning light comes on, and the catalytic converter temperature warning eventually illuminates. Strangely, turning the engine off and then back on can make the problem disappear completely for several hundred kilometers. The diagnostic report specifically identifies several faults related to the EGR system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, is it a nightmare or a good deal?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For now, the answer probably lies somewhere in between. At \u00a3264,500\u2014or about \u20ac305,000\u2014this Murci\u00e9lago was certainly not a cheap Lamborghini. It still needs work; its engine problem needs to be diagnosed, it\u2019s still a bit finicky when starting up, and several minor repairs are piling up. But after nearly six years of being out of commission, the essentials are there: its V12 runs, the car drives, and its overall condition is good.
