After Europe, the Kimera K39<\/a> crosses the Atlantic. Three months after its debut at the Concorso d\u2019Eleganza Villa d\u2019Este, the 1,000 ch Italian hypercar arrives in California for Monterey Car Week. And Kimera<\/a> did not bring the prototype that had already been spotted at Goodwood; instead, the manufacturer unveiled a new gray K39 built for its first American customer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A K39 designed specifically for the United States<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Kimera had set the stage a few days ago: from August 14 to 16, the K39 was scheduled to take part in several must-see events during Monterey Car Week, including The Quail, the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, and the festivities surrounding the Pebble Beach Concours d\u2019Elegance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For this U.S. debut, the Piedmont-based brand has just unveiled a configuration never seen before. This K39 features a particularly understated Metallic Silver body, contrasted by numerous blue-tinted carbon-fiber elements. The massive side air intakes, rear spoiler, and center-lock wheels immediately remind viewers that behind its almost elegant appearance lies a true road-legal race car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The interior is just as spectacular. Carbon fiber is everywhere, but Kimera pairs it here with brown leather that covers the impressive bucket seats. Martini Racing harnesses, a roll cage, and a visible manual gearshift: it doesn\u2019t get much more radical than this. An American flag embroidered in the cabin serves as a reminder of this particular car\u2019s very special purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00abKimi,\u00bb but not the one at Goodwood<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The name might be confusing. During its first run at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July, Prototype 01 was already nicknamed \u00abKimi\u00bb<\/a>, as seen in particular on its driver's seat. This time, Kimera is once again using this name to unveil the car in California, with an entirely different configuration designed for the U.S. market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Above all, this new model showcases just how customizable the K39 can be. Following the concept cars unveiled at Villa d\u2019Este, Monaco, and then Goodwood, this U.S. configuration offers a first glimpse of what customers will actually be able to order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Still 1,000 hp thanks to its Koenigsegg V8<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Beneath its bodywork, inspired by Italian endurance race cars of the 1980s, the K39 naturally retains its main mechanical selling point. Kimera has partnered with Koenigsegg to develop a special version of the Swedish 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The engine delivers 1,000 hp at 7,350 rpm and 1,200 Nm at 5,500 rpm, with a maximum rpm of 8,250. All without a hybrid system. A particularly spectacular design for a car that draws as much on the legacy of Lancia\u2019s race cars as it does on that of the Group C prototypes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After Villa d\u2019Este and its eventful appearance at Goodwood\u2014where the Prototype 01 lost its engine hood window in the middle of the climb\u2014the K39 continues its world tour. But this stop in California has a different feel to it: Kimera is no longer just here to showcase its hypercar. With this Metallic Silver K39 destined for its first customer in the United States, the commercial venture is now beginning to take on an international dimension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
