Unveiled as a concept car in 2003 before going into production a few years later (read The History of the Alfa Romeo 8C<\/a>), it is now considered one of the Italian brand\u2019s most beautiful modern creations. And for collectors, a truly exceptional opportunity has just arisen in Dubai: three examples are currently up for sale in the same location, for a total price of nearly one million dollars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Ferrari-Maserati V8 engine<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This engine is precisely one of the reasons why the Alfa Romeo 8C is so special today. Hidden beneath its long front hood is the F136 V8, an engine developed by Ferrari and Maserati and then manufactured in Maranello. In this version, specific to the Alfa Romeo 8C, the displacement increases to 4.7 liters, producing 450 ch at 7,000 rpm and 470 Nm of torque. A naturally aspirated engine from a bygone era\u2014with no electric assistance or turbocharger\u2014designed above all to deliver a thrilling driving experience, with a sound that has become one of this model\u2019s hallmarks. This same engine belongs to the large family of Ferrari-Maserati V8s found notably under the hood of certain Maserati GranTurismo models, as well as in different iterations in the Ferrari F430 and 458 Italia. Paired with a six-speed automated manual transmission and mounted in a front-mid position with a transaxle layout, it enabled the 8C to accelerate from 0 to 100 km\/h in about 4 seconds and reach a top speed of nearly 292 km\/h.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
