Given that even the most basic supercar engine can fetch astronomical prices, the deal seems almost too good to be true\u2026 And indeed, there\u2019s one major catch: this Ferrari V6 will never start.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The engine of the Ferrari that won at Le Mans<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Since its return to the top tier of endurance racing, the Ferrari 499P has become one of the most significant race cars in the Italian brand\u2019s recent history. After leading Ferrari back to the top at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2023, the Hypercar also won the 2024 and 2025 editions (but not 2026\u2026). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the heart of this car lies a 3.0-liter, 120-degree twin-turbo V6 engine, derived from the one in the Ferrari 296 but extensively modified for racing. This engine has also become a true technical icon. And it is precisely this engine that a specialized British company has just put up for sale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ferrari V6 engine for \u20ac16,995<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Amalgam Collection, known for its ultra-high-end reproductions, is now selling a replica of the Ferrari 499P's engine and transmission. The listed price is 16,995 euros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At that price, some might think they\u2019re buying a real racing powertrain. Yet it\u2019s actually a 1\/4-scale model, about 35 centimeters long, that reproduces the V6 engine of the Le Mans-winning Hypercar with extreme precision. Each model is hand-assembled by a small team of artisans. According to Amalgam, it took more than 3,500 hours to develop the model, and more than 325 hours are spent crafting each piece. The British company has been working with Ferrari for over twenty years. This collaboration gives it access to CAD data, technical references, and specifications used by the engineers in Maranello. The result: the level of detail is spectacular.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amalgam compares this creation to a high-end mechanical watch, where beauty lies as much in the object\u2019s complexity as in its function.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Collectors<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This replica of the Ferrari 499P V6 will be limited to just 499 units worldwide. This number was obviously chosen as a nod to the Italian hypercar. At nearly 17,000 euros, the price may seem extravagant for an engine that produces exactly\u2026 0 horsepower. Yet this amount is almost reasonable compared to the brand\u2019s other scale models, some of which already cost more than 25,000 euros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The catch with this brand-new Ferrari V6 is, in the end, quite simple: it will never be installed in a car. But for the wealthiest enthusiasts, it might still find a place in the middle of a collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
