Stella Li, executive vice president of the Chinese automaker, has made it clear that the group is not engaged in any discussions with Stellantis regarding the Trident brand. However, BYD is actively pursuing its strategy to establish a manufacturing presence in Europe, with a second production facility still under consideration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Maserati, a brand that is admired but incompatible with BYD's identity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When asked about rumors of a possible reconciliation with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/en\/maserati\/\">Maserati<\/a>, Stella Li made no secret of her admiration for the Italian brand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><svg aria-hidden=\"true\" focusable=\"false\" class=\"icon icon-quote\" width=\"48\" height=\"48\"><use xlink:href=\"#icon-quote\"><\/use><\/svg>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00abIt's a wonderful brand. But wouldn't that take us too far off our own path?\u00bb<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This response sheds new light on the matter. More than just a denial, the executive suggests that an acquisition would not align with BYD\u2019s current positioning, as the company now presents itself more as a technology firm than as a traditional automaker. She also adds that relations with Stellantis executives are excellent, while clarifying that there are no discussions regarding Maserati.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This position is in line with that expressed by Antonio Filosa. The CEO of Stellantis recently reiterated before the Italian Parliament that Maserati \u00abis not for sale,\u00bb while confirming that negotiations are underway with two potential partners as part of the brand\u2019s revitalization plan. These discussions reportedly concern technological and industrial collaborations, the first details of which could be unveiled before the end of the year at the Investor Day dedicated to Maserati.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A second European plant is still under consideration<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While Maserati is not part of BYD\u2019s plans, Europe remains at the heart of its ambitions. Following its Hungarian plant\u2014which is taking longer than expected to ramp up\u2014the Chinese automaker is preparing to open a second production facility on the continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Just a few days ago, Italy was still among the countries being considered as a potential location for this future plant. BYD is looking for an existing industrial site that is large enough and currently underutilized in order to accelerate its expansion into Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, the most recent information indicates that the situation is evolving. According to several Italian sources, France and Spain now appear to be the most serious contenders, while Germany also remains in the running. Italy is reportedly no longer at the top of the list of options under consideration, although no final decision has yet been made official.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">BYD wants to become a European automaker\u2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Chinese group's goal goes beyond simply local production. Stella Li says she wants to change perceptions of the brand in Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><svg aria-hidden=\"true\" focusable=\"false\" class=\"icon icon-quote\" width=\"48\" height=\"48\"><use xlink:href=\"#icon-quote\"><\/use><\/svg>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00abMaybe in ten years, people will think of BYD as a European brand. That\u2019s the perception we\u2019re aiming for.\u00bb<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To achieve this, BYD is focusing on local production, a network of European suppliers, and new industrial investments. The executive also confirmed that the group is still working on a battery plant project in Europe. However, this investment will depend on several factors, including political stability, a business-friendly environment, and a policy welcoming Chinese investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This strategy illustrates BYD\u2019s commitment to establishing a lasting presence in the European market.
