This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/en\/cars\/alfa-romeo-gtv-916\/\">Alfa Romeo GTV 916<\/a> It has a very long history in the Alfa Romeo UK Championship and was considered one of the fastest front-wheel-drive cars on the British circuit in the 2010s. Three drivers have taken the wheel: Roger Evans, Graham Seager, and now Gareth Haywood.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Getting Started with a Modified Busso<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The car was originally developed and raced by Roger Evans, a leading figure in the Alfa Romeo UK Championship, known for his extremely radical modifications developed in collaboration with Revs Italia and his company, Peak Alfa. We have previously covered some of his most daring modifications, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/en\/alfa-romeo\/this-driver-installed-two-v6-busso-engines-in-an-alfa-romeo-164-the-passenger-came-out-white-as-a-ghost\/\">an Alfa Romeo 164 Bimotore<\/a> and a 164 race car, which he entered himself in the 1990s. He currently still races in the Modified class with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/en\/alfa-romeo\/an-alfa-romeo-giulietta-rear-wheel-drive-with-a-maserati-v8-engine-boosted-to-500-hp-a-true-gta\/\">an Alfa Romeo Giulietta fitted with a Maserati V8 engine<\/a> ! In 2012 and 2013, Roger Evans won the championship, partly thanks to the GTV 3.8, although his main weapon at the time was a 147 GTA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"GTV 3.8 Donington 2008\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/xnFssoSkW0I?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Mystery of Power<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Graham Seager took over the GTV V6 in 2013 and completely refurbished it. The main change was the return to a \u201cclassic\u201d 3.2-liter displacement. It features upgraded internal components, a free-flow exhaust system, and, most notably, a Rotrex supercharger with a front-mounted intercooler and an oil cooler.\u00a0The exact specifications and power output were never disclosed, but the GTV was estimated to produce 400 ch. With that much power and a weight of just 1,100 kg, it\u2019s a very fast car. To make this front-wheel drive more effective, a Gripper limited-slip differential was installed to control the powerful torque available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/gtv-916-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-51097\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/gtv-916-3.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/gtv-916-3-420x280.jpg 420w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/gtv-916-3-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/gtv-916-3-18x12.jpg 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A more aggressive look\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the regulations, the bulkhead, windshield, and engine must all remain in place, and the monocoque must remain stock. But the car has been given an aggressive look, with carbon-fiber doors, hood, and trunk, and fenders and spoilers that greatly enhance aerodynamics. Seager claimed three victories in 2014, finishing 3rd in the overall championship and 1st in the A1 class. In 2015, he claimed eight class victories and clinched the overall title. The GTV was then entered sporadically, racking up a few more class victories before being retired. The car saw little racing action between 2016 and 2020, reliably competing in only 12 select CSCC Modern Classics events during that period, and was used for hill climbs and sprints from 2020 to 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Return!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The most recent driver, Gareth Haywood, brought the car back to competition in the Modified class. The most noticeable visual change is a taller rear wing.
