Presented at the end of 2012 and available from 2013, the sixth-generation Quattroporte marks a new stage in Maserati's history. Designed under the direction of Lorenzo Ramaciotti, formerly of Pininfarina, it adopts generous dimensions with a length of over 5.26 meters and is positioned as a true sports limousine capable of rivaling the best German cars. The GTS version is powered by a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 developing 530 hp. Despite weighing close to two tons, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km\/h in just 4.7 seconds and can reach top speeds of over 300 km\/h.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A proven Ferrari engine<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One of the most fascinating elements of this Quattroporte is, of course, its engine. Under the hood is the Ferrari F154 engine, an all-aluminum 90\u00b0 V8 with twin turbochargers. This engine marked a turning point in the history of Ferrari and Maserati powertrains, as it gradually replaced the brand's previous naturally-aspirated V8s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Introduced in 2013, the F154 has equipped many prestigious models. Its various variants can be found in the Ferrari California T, 488 GTB, Portofino, Roma, F8 Tributo and SF90 Stradale. On the Maserati side, it has powered the Ghibli, the Levante and, of course, the Quattroporte. According to information shared by Mileage_Impossible, the engine on this 465,203 km model is still the one installed at the factory. The two turbochargers and eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox are also original. Remarkable longevity for a mechanical unit capable of handling over 650 Nm of torque.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Proof that a Maserati can travel the world<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When Maserati launched the Quattroporte VI, the brand aimed to produce up to 12,000 units a year at its Grugliasco plant near Turin. The aim was to appeal to customers looking for luxury, comfort and performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Twelve years on, this example shows above all that a modern Maserati can also demonstrate impressive endurance when properly maintained. Reaching more than 465,000 km with a sedan capable of over 300 km\/h is already an unusual feat. To do so with the original engine, turbos and transmission is almost a feat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This Quattroporte GTS thus becomes one of the finest ambassadors for the reliability of the Ferrari F154 V8.
