Lancia<\/a> continues its renaissance. After a Ypsilon which left a good impression on us at the our first test<\/a>, Today, the Italian brand officially unveils the first images of the new Gamma. A strategically important model for Lancia's return to the European premium segment. And from the very first glimpse, it's obvious: this Gamma has a strong family resemblance to several models already familiar to the Stellantis group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A silhouette between Peugeot 3008 and DS N\u00b07<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Let's face it: the new Lancia Gamma shares much in common with the Peugeot 3008. STLA Medium platform, similar size, common technical architecture... all this was expected. In the end, it comes as no surprise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But perhaps the most striking comparison lies elsewhere. Visually, this Gamma is very reminiscent of the new DS N\u00b07. The fastback line, the proportions, the treatment of the rear end and certain angles are all striking. So much so, in fact, that one almost has the impression of seeing two different interpretations of the same project. And the similarity doesn't stop at style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both the DS N\u00b07 and the new Lancia Gamma will be produced at the same location: the Melfi plant in Italy. A strategic plant for Stellantis, already heralded as one of the Group's most technologically advanced sites. In other words, the two models will share much more than just a platform. Equipment, technologies, powertrains and probably even price positioning should be very similar. In the end, the choice may well come down to a question of aesthetic sensibility: do you prefer Lancia's Italian refinement, or DS's more French, status-oriented approach?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Already familiar powertrains<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Under the body, the Gamma will be based on Stellantis' STLA Medium platform. The official press release confirms several hybrid and electric powertrains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 145 hp hybrid version promises a range of over 1,000 km, while electric variants range from 230 hp with over 540 km to a 375 hp AWD version capable of 675 km. A 245 hp configuration with a range of over 740 km has also been announced. Here again, it's hard not to think of the Group's other models, both known and yet to come. But that's not necessarily a problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A non-surprise... but not a bad car<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Basically, this new Lancia Gamma is exactly what we've been imagining for months. A premium Stellantis SUV with Italian flair, sharing much of its technology with the group's other models. No surprise, then.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But that doesn't mean it's going to be a bad car. Quite the contrary, in fact. The new Ypsilon showed us that Lancia knew how to bring real personality to common technical bases. And this Gamma seems to follow the same philosophy: take familiar elements and transform them with greater elegance and refinement. Now for the most important part: the road test.
