Before building supercars capable of shaking up Ferrari, Lamborghini<\/a> made tractors. In fact, Ferruccio Lamborghini made his fortune with these agricultural machines, long before the bull became one of the most sought-after emblems of the Italian sports car. And sometimes, history likes to close in on itself in the most unexpected ways. Proof of this is the Lamborghini Centenario Tractor, a tractor transformed into a rolling objet d'art, now up for auction in the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At first glance, it's hard to know whether to classify it as an agricultural vehicle, a hot rod or a mechanical sculpture. This lowered Lamborghini tractor, with its overt steampunk styling, looks like it's come straight from a workshop where someone decided to blend the brand's peasant roots with the exuberance of its modern supercars. The result is spectacular, and above all, more expensive than a Lamborghini. Revuelto<\/a> new.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A very special tribute to Ferruccio Lamborghini<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This model isn't just a homemade preparation done in a garage. It's one of five commissioned by Klima Lounge, a German private collection specializing in Lamborghini, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Ferruccio Lamborghini's birth. The design was entrusted to Italian designer Adler Capelli, who imagined a machine halfway between historical tribute, collector's item and artistic creation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The chosen base is a Lamborghini DLA35 from the 1960s. A logical choice, since this tractor is a direct link to the brand's origins. But here, it's no longer really a work tool designed to pull a plough. The vehicle has been completely redesigned, lowered, sculpted and transformed to adopt a long, low, almost sporty silhouette. Driver and passenger sit between the huge rear wheels, in a position more reminiscent of a hot rod than a farm tractor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

36 hp diesel, but 1.75 million euros<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Underneath this handcrafted bodywork, however, lies a very modest powertrain. The Centenario Tractor retains a three-cylinder, 2.2-liter diesel engine developing around 36 hp, combined with a manual gearbox. In other words, don't expect supercar-like acceleration. But that's obviously not the point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What makes this tractor exceptional is its exclusivity and level of craftsmanship. Originally, each of the five examples would have sold for around 1.75 million euros. A crazy sum for a 36 hp tractor, but not necessarily surprising in the Lamborghini world, where rarity, design and history can sometimes outweigh technical specifications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By comparison, a Lamborghini Revuelto, the latest-generation V12 hybrid supercar, costs less. So this Centenario Tractor is probably one of the most extravagant ways to buy a Lamborghini... without buying a supercar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A tractor designed as a work of art<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The most fascinating aspect of this project is its aesthetic treatment. The metal panels were hand-formed and deliberately left unpainted. Adler Capelli's idea was to let the metal age naturally, developing a patina, like the old Lamborghini tractors that can still be seen in some Italian countryside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The details are numerous, almost hidden. There are several Lamborghini badges, hand-crafted elements, black steel wheels, double seats with a patinated look and a multitude of nods to the brand's history. It's not just a modified tractor, it's a kind of mechanical summary of Lamborghini: agricultural roots, a taste for the spectacular, Italian craftsmanship and a certain madness in execution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The advert states that the example on offer is in highly original, collector's condition, with only 500 km covered since its completion in 2020. This tiny mileage confirms its vocation: we'd rather see it displayed in a private collection, museum or showroom than in the field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This Centenario Tractor reminds us of something we sometimes forget: Lamborghini wasn't born with the Miura<\/a>the Countach<\/a> or theAventador<\/a>. Before V12s, there were diesel engines, tractor wheels and rugged farm machinery. This restomod takes this historical link to the extreme, transforming an old DLA35 into an extraordinary collector's item.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There's something almost ironic about this story. While Lamborghini today sells ultra-technological hybrid supercars, one of the most expensive models associated with its heritage may be a 36hp diesel tractor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
