Stefan Windschiegl, racing driver and entrepreneur, dreamt of a unique car in the Autocross championship. But in this case, not a Subaru Impreza, Sprint car or buggy, but an Italian supercar! His choice fell on a Lamborghini Gallardo<\/a>, with all-wheel drive and a powerful engine. Its 5.2-liter V10 has been tuned by Emming Motorentechniek to optimize the Gallardo's performance on short, winding circuits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We're talking about Stefan Windschiegl's Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4, a real Gallardo transformed for autocross, not just a silhouette. In an interview, Windschiegl indicated that the preparation of the Lamborghini<\/a> had taken about a year. Inevitable teething problems had to be overcome, but the Gallardo is now one of the best in its class, Class 3b \/ Spezialtourenwagen 4WD in the German championship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stefan has retained the Gallardo philosophy of a mid-engine, all-wheel drive and Lamborghini V10, but adapted it to the land. The engine, a naturally-aspirated 5.2 V10, delivers 650 hp, compared with 560 hp for the production version, with torque estimated at between 540 and 580 Nm. The standard Gallardo already uses all-wheel drive with a 45 % self-locking rear differential, modified here for autocross use. Its weight is estimated at between 1,150 and 1,250 kg, thanks to an aluminum body, compared with 1,430 kg for the standard model, with a 42\/58 front-to-rear weight distribution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The suspension was upgraded with long travel, dirt\/autocross rims, a gutted interior with roll bar, reinforced cooling and geometry adapted to dirt tracks. In 2022, it played for the national title in DACM, finishing runner-up, proof that the Gallardo had become truly competitive. And the videos show that it's no joke!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
