Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/en\/fiat\/\">Fiat<\/a> 500e has not said its last word, despite a complicated period. What's more, its future now seems clearly mapped out, between technical evolution in the short term and complete renewal in the longer term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2027: confirmation of a new Stellantis battery<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>At the beginning of 2025, we were already talking about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/en\/fiat\/new-fiat-500-electric-new-battery-and-release-date-our-exclusive-information\/\">the arrival of a new battery<\/a> to relaunch the electric 500. At the time, little was official, apart from a \u20ac100 million investment announced by Stellantis to improve the model. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A year later, Ferdinando Uliano, Secretary General of FIM CISL, confirms this scenario. According to him, an electric Fiat 500 equipped with new Stellantis batteries is indeed planned for 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This information largely validates our initial analysis. At the time, we explained that the future LFP battery from the joint venture with CATL would not be available before the end of 2026, due to the production start-up schedule of the Spanish plant. It was therefore logical that the update of the 500 electric should take place in 2027, and not in 2025 as had been suggested by some.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/stellantis-catl-0.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-43698\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/stellantis-catl-0.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/stellantis-catl-0-420x280.jpg 420w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/stellantis-catl-0-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/stellantis-catl-0-18x12.jpg 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This battery change is strategic. Today, the 500e suffers from a price positioning considered too high, aggravated by the end of purchase subsidies in several European countries. As a result, registrations have fallen from around 65,000 units in 2023 to 30,000 in 2024, and 24,000 in 2025. With a less expensive LFP chemistry, Fiat hopes to improve both range and, above all, affordability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These changes concern not only the product, but also the industrial facilities. The Mirafiori plant, historically linked to Fiat, is at the heart of the stakes. According to Ferdinando Uliano, the ramp-up is already underway, with 440 new hires and the addition of a second production line as early as March 2026. Stellantis has set itself the ambitious target of producing around 100,000 vehicles by 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new electric 500, expected in 2027, will play a key role in stabilizing the site's business over the long term. If it's less expensive, with better range, it will complement the hybrid version, launched to boost volumes in the short term and amortize development costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2030: a whole new generation already in the pipeline<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Although 2027 will mark an important evolution, it will only be a stage. According to the same sources, a new generation of the electric 500 is already scheduled for 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This future 500e will no longer be a simple evolution of the model launched in 2020, but a completely redesigned vehicle. It will be part of a new industrial and regulatory strategy, focusing in particular on small electric cars produced in Europe, a segment that the European Union wishes to encourage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This point is far from insignificant. Current discussions around European standards could favor compact vehicles, up to 4.2 meters, with specific advantages. An opportunity that Fiat could seize to reposition the 500 as a more accessible and competitive electric city car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A two-stage strategy to save the electric 500<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In the end, the trajectory of the electric Fiat 500 is clear. On the one hand, an update in 2027 with a new battery to correct its main shortcomings. On the other, a new generation in 2030 to start afresh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Between the two, the hybrid version will play an essential buffer role to maintain volumes and support the Mirafiori plant.
