While Fiat<\/a> is already preparing to unveil a highly-anticipated model, the future Grizzly, another rumor is starting to stir up the Italian brand's backstage rumors. An unexpected name has surfaced in several Italian media: Fiat Koala: Fiat Koala. And unlike the Grizzly, whose existence is now official, this new model is still shrouded in mystery... but the initial information is already intriguing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After Grizzly, a new surprise in the works?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In recent weeks, Fiat's news has accelerated. The official registration of the Fiat Grizzly name<\/a> by FCA Marketing has confirmed the arrival of a new C-segment SUV, which could take the form of a fastback coup\u00e9 or a 7-seat family model: Fiat Grizzly and Fiat Grizzly Fastback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But in the shadow of this announcement, another name has emerged: Koala. Several Italian sources suggest a third project, to complete a product offensive already well underway around the Grande Panda and its derivatives. However, one important point needs to be made clear: unlike Fiat Grizzly, whose filing is verifiable, that of Fiat Koala cannot yet be officially confirmed as we have not found it. This does not prevent speculation from multiplying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An affordable city car in the Panda tradition<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to early indications, the Fiat Koala would be part of a very clear strategy: to offer simple, urban and accessible vehicles. It would thus be closely linked to the Panda family, while retaining its own identity. This model would complement a range that is still considered too limited, currently comprising the 500, 600, Grande Panda and Pandina. Fiat's objective is clear: to win back the mass market with practical, affordable cars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rumors also point to a more radical alternative: a heavy quadricycle (L7 category), more spacious and versatile than a Topolino. This remains a credible possibility, although other sources are leaning more towards a genuine small car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Production already mooted in Morocco<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In other news, the future model could be produced in Kenitra, Morocco. This industrial site is already strategic for Stellantis, particularly for compact, low-cost vehicles. This industrial choice would confirm the Koala's positioning: a model designed to be competitive, both in Europe and in other markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The timing is probably no coincidence either. The news comes just a few weeks before the presentation of Stellantis' new industrial plan, which is expected to detail Fiat's strategy for the coming years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the hood, a trend is already taking shape. Fiat is reportedly pushing hard to equip its future models with the Firefly engine, produced in Italy. This choice is far from insignificant. It marks a clear desire to move away from the often-criticized 1.2 PureTech engine and return to an in-house solution. The Koala could thus become one of the first models in this new technical direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The year-end surprise?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Between the Grande Panda, the future Grizzly and now this mysterious Koala, Fiat seems to be entering a phase of profound renewal. The objective is simple: to once again become a major player in the European market with accessible, well-positioned models adapted to new uses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It remains to be seen whether the Koala will make the leap from rumor to reality. But remember, Stellantis officially announced that an exclusive concept car would be presented on the Fiat stand at the Paris Motor Show 2026.
