Seeing an Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio priced at $30,000 in the United States may seem, in Europe, almost unreal. We're talking about a sporty SUV that was priced at over $98,000 new, powered by a 510 hp twin-turbo V6 and capable of competing with the benchmarks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And yet, on the Craigslist ad site in Seattle, a red 2018 model has just appeared at this price. The advert has caused quite a stir on the other side of the Atlantic, with some Internet users even claiming that the price is still... too high. A situation that perfectly illustrates the sometimes paradoxical perception of Alfa Romeo<\/a> in the US market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A well-configured Stelvio Quadrifoglio<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This Stelvio isn't just any old model. It's a version equipped with the High Performance Package (HPP), a very special configuration offered only in 2018. According to the seller, only around thirty examples have been delivered with this precise combination of equipment: Sparco carbon-fiber bucket seats, Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes and a specific front splitter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the time, the carbon-ceramic brakes alone represented an option cost of nearly $8,000. On the final bill, additional equipment pushed the price up to nearly $100,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the hood, of course, is the famous 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6. In the Stelvio Quadrifoglio, it develops 510 hp, transmitted to all four wheels via the eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox and Q4 all-wheel drive. In other words, an SUV capable of performance worthy of a true sports car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A visibly pampered car<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The example on sale boasts 49,735 miles, or around 80,000 kilometers. A relatively reasonable mileage for a 2018 car. The seller explains that he's a technician and claims to have maintained the vehicle with particular care. He also points out that the Stelvio has hardly ever been driven in the rain, except when forced to do so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What's most impressive, of course, is the drop in price. Priced at close to $100,000 new, this Stelvio Quadrifoglio is now offered at $30,000. This represents a loss of almost two-thirds of its value in eight years, or a discount of around $8,700 per year. A significant depreciation, but in the end a fairly classic one for top-of-the-range Alfa Romeos on the American market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A business... or a meeting to look forward to?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This is precisely where the perception of this type of ad comes into play. Because while the purchase price may seem attractive, the upkeep of such a high-performance SUV is a key factor not to be overlooked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On this type of vehicle, certain operations such as geometry and alignment are essential to maintain roadholding, tire wear and overall safety. Neglecting these points can quickly lead to additional costs or a degraded driving experience.
