This strategic decision comes at a time of slower-than-expected energy transition. And as an unexpected symbol, at the same time, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.italpassion.fr\/en\/alfa-romeo\/\">Alfa Romeo<\/a> that's over twenty years old is back in the news. Its owner, Zolt\u00e1n Zs\u00f3t\u00e9r, says he bought this 156 in Milan in 2004. Since then, the car has never been involved in an accident and still retains its original \u201cBianco Polare\u201d white paintwork. The chassis, he explains, remains in excellent condition despite the years, with only the bodywork having suffered a few marks related to the famous \u201cItalian parking style\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Used for several winters in Austria, the car has never suffered from major corrosion, thanks to meticulous maintenance based on the regular application of bitumen or wax protection to the underpinnings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A tried and tested mechanism... but not set in stone<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Reaching such a distance was obviously not possible without mechanical intervention. According to the owner, the engine itself only required a turbo, while the transmission received two clutches and a flywheel. The injectors were replaced once, as was the EGR valve. Suspension and wear components were changed over the miles, including two complete sets of wishbones, bearings, shock absorbers and springs. Still working. Still capable of taking the car on the road, bend after bend, as its owner humorously points out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Multijet symbol at the moment of its return<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This testimonial comes at an almost ironic moment in industry news. Faced with the slowdown in sales of electric vehicles and the persistent expectations of heavy-duty drivers, Stellantis is preparing the return of diesel... in a modernized form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The future 1.6 Multijet Euro 7 engine, combined with lightweight hybridization via the eDCT6 gearbox, should make it possible to combine fuel economy, range and compliance with future environmental standards. A new-generation diesel, conceived no longer as a transitional alternative, but as a sustainable solution in a more realistic energy mix. In this context, seeing an Alfa Romeo 156 reach 800,000 km with one of the first JTD engines takes on a special dimension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A silent demonstration<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course, this exceptional longevity depends as much on maintenance as on design.
