Its return had been rumoured for years. This time, it's here: the first spy photos of the future Lancia Gamma are starting to circulate. Still heavily camouflaged, the model can nevertheless be guessed at... and already confirms several key elements of this future pillar of the Italian brand's renaissance. Yes, the Gamma won't be a sedan. It will be an SUV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A 4.6-metre SUV to support the Ypsilon<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Since its official launch, we've known that the Gamma would complete the range alongside the new Lancia Ypsilon. Spyshots now confirm its silhouette and, above all, its proportions. At around 4.6 meters in length, the Gamma clearly fits into the family SUV segment. It will be offered with 100 % electric engines, as well as a hybrid internal combustion engine, proving that the Lancia Ypsilon is a true family SUV. Inside, although no photos have yet been released, everything suggests that the ambience will reflect the \u201ccosy\u201d spirit inaugurated by the new Ypsilon. We can logically imagine the presence of the SALA multimedia system, the centerpiece of Lancia's on-board experience. But it's the exterior lines that are attracting the most attention today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An unmistakable profile<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

From the side, it's hard not to notice a certain familiarity. The proportions, the roofline, the volumes... everything is clearly reminiscent of a Peugeot 3008. The visual kinship is obvious, and that's hardly surprising in a Stellantis group that shares its platforms to a large extent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the front, on the other hand, Lancia asserts its identity. The light signature follows that of the new Ypsilon, creating an immediate coherence within the future range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for the rear end, it should mark an evolution. A new light signature, already teased in the past, will further differentiate this SUV from other Group models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the end, this Gamma appears to be a clear-cut synthesis: an SUV with proportions close to those of the 3008, a face inspired by the Ypsilon, and an original stern to assert the brand's new stylistic era.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A risky bet for Lancia?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This positioning is reminiscent of the criticism received by the new Ypsilon. Many pointed out its similarities to the Peugeot 208, from which it is technically derived. With the Gamma, Lancia could well be exposed to similar remarks. The challenge will be to impose a genuine visual and emotional identity despite a common base. The major difference this time may well lie elsewhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unlike the Ypsilon, which is produced in Spain, the Gamma will be produced in Italy. It will roll off the production lines of the Melfi plant, alongside the future Jeep Compass. A strategic industrial choice for Lancia, which is strengthening its national roots as part of its recovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Presentation expected in 2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to initial reports, the official presentation could take place before the summer of 2026. The first press tests are then scheduled for autumn of the same year. The Lancia Gamma looks set to be a key part of the brand's revival. It remains to be seen whether this SUV will be able to overcome its d\u00e9j\u00e0-vu appearance to win over new customers.
