Receiving the keys to an Italian supercar is the dream of almost every car enthusiast. But sometimes, financial reality quickly catches up with fantasy. That's exactly what happened to an American, who shared his story on Reddit after his confidentiality agreement expired: he won a Lamborghini<\/a>... and got rid of it almost immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It all starts with an Uber ride<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

At the time, the man didn't even have a car. He commuted to work every day by Uber, in the middle of the Covid period. One morning, in a hurry and already running late, he climbed into a luxurious vehicle that didn't match either the model advertised by the app, a Jeep, or the driver's name. A few minutes later, he understands the situation: the driver is in fact the famous YouTubeur MrBeast, known for his videos in which he hands out money and extravagant gifts. About seven minutes into the journey, the revelation dawns: the car is his.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The scene is filmed from several angles, with production vehicles surrounding them. An unreal situation, which at first he thinks is a staged fake. But it's not. The car really belongs to him. And not just any car: a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder<\/a> !<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The dream... then the shock<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Being able to drive a supercar is exhilarating. He says he tried it out and enjoyed the experience, even if he didn't like the constant attention it attracted. However, the financial reality soon became apparent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The insurance he is offered is around $5,600 a month (at the time he won the supercar, his license was suspended, which also explains the astronomical insurance rate). Tires cost almost $2,000 a pair. Fuel consumption far exceeds that of a normal car, and the specialized garage capable of servicing it is a four-hour drive away. Then there are the taxes: in his state, keeping the car for more than 60 days triggers a luxury tax of around $6,000. Paradoxically, the advice of MrBeast, who offered him the car, was: it's better to sell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two days later, the Lamborghini is sold.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The decision was made quickly. Two days after officially receiving the papers, he sold the Lamborghini to the highest bidder. Transaction value: around $95,000 in cash. He admits that he could probably have obtained more by waiting a few months. But keeping such a car without any suitable income would have cost him a lot more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And he buys... a Honda Civic<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

What do you do after selling a Lamborghini? He chose the most rational solution possible: a new Honda Civic, bought the very next day. The rest of the money is mainly saved and invested, with a small portion used to please his family and close friends. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This anecdote perfectly sums up the paradox of exceptional cars. Winning a Lamborghini seems like an absolute dream. However, for someone who doesn't already have the corresponding income, it can quickly become a money pit. In the end, the man will only have kept the supercar for a few days, but he will have gained something far more useful from it: financial security and a vehicle he can actually use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
